Soooo.... next event?
Who's going to nationals? Do we want to have an event between now and then?
Im keen for a feather event - largely cos im sick of insects, and it would be good as a testing stage for the nationals since thats feathers too _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

A feather event would be very welcome, except I don't have one working. If the Nats are in November, then late September to early October would be idea so we have time for repairs & and upgrades.
Another event at Glens's or Jeff's place for ants & beetles would be good in mid September.

yeah happy to have an event here if you want it, i can set up for it much better this time around
Also wouldn't mind a feather event in the not too far future. Some apprehension about it being too close to the qld event tho in case the unimaginable happens.
I think we should look at revisions to the calender next year based on this year as things turned out way different wrt to running all 3 classes. Which no one really expected Its been quite a drain at some events. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

any class event would be lovely but not until october or late september minimum
after the amount of effort to get stuff done for serial space (which was awesome by the way angus, well done) im not even gonna start looking at robots for another week or so and by then itll be almost end of august so.....
keen to get work finished on warning tho as its done minue a few days descent work, that and it would do me good working on something normal size again
love the smaller classes but thats all weve had this year so................ _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Agreed, we havn't had any feather events... however a feather event before steve's planned event is just asking for trouble. It would almost certainly knock out competitors. Hows the idea of a build meet for feathers, perhaps some low key grudge matches, along with beetles or ants ?
As far as I know every single feather in NSW is in pieces so it'll let us get the kinks out before smashing i mean competing with everyone in Brisbane. _________________ ( •_•)
I'm gonna try and get my uber ant of doom under way in the not to distant future, and i know cassie is keen on mk2 of baby bowler.
I've also got dodgybot kinda fixed, so an ant/beetle event is sounding good.
If we wanted to do ants only we could perhaps try russells place if there is some interest. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

we can just go easy on each other with feathers so as not to ruin our collective NSW chances at teh nats _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Hows this sound?
We run an insect comp, but we also run a feathers 'testing' event, to gear us up for Brisbane.
Such testing events could be 'cat and mouse', 'soccer', 'wacky race' or simultaneous smashing competition. The idea is to iron out all the inevitable problems we're all gonna get, such as dodgy solder joints and wheels falling off. It's not hardcore combat, but should be a lot of fun. It's been quite a while since we did feathers and I think if we tried for a full combat event straight away it'll be full of dissapointment.
It seems like a viable middleground to those guys wanting a feather comp next and those wanting insects who don't have/want feathers. _________________ ( •_•)
well, thats fine with me as long as a feather full combat event goes ahead sometime following it!
as for the insect comp part of it, im not keen on running both an ant and a beetle and also managing a feather - can we restrict it to one insect class and maybe grudge matches for the other class? _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Beetle sounds good
IF
we have it at my place tho i'd need help getting the arena over so we can start the modifications.
Anything other than a full on event for the feathers is rather futile cause you really need a proper smashing around to work out the kinks. Unless we have another event in like 2 weeks time i doubt we'll get them modded or back together in time for an early december qld event given our past efforts. cough cough >.>; _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts
