<Sigh> the video is a bit of a debacle! It turns out that I shot video at a higher resolution than Glen and Jaemus. There are also problems with saturation, colour balance and frame rate, meaning that cutting the video together looks like absolute crap! Crying or Very sad

I think that just uploading the individual videos will be best unless Jaemus has some magic to work.

Next time, we should standardise on a resolution (probably 720p) and work out a way to white balance the cameras. My GoPro and Jaemus's Nikon D90 both had a lot of strobing; its not the fluorescent lights as we turned them off part way thu the event - it could be the big arc lamp at the front of the arena or simply too little light. Some experimentation is in order...

I have just unpacked the Exlim camera, so that will add some video options next time.

Well, all the spinner matches! Nobody needs to see the shameful pushing matches involving Massive Laughing

BTW: do we want to experiment with camera ports in the new beetle arena? At Robowars, the 'pro' video guy had a black-out cloth around the camera lens and I have seen other events use the same technique to cut down reflections from the arena wall. It wouldn't be hard or expensive to add a port to one of the MDF walls and the gain in video quality makes it worth the effort IMHO.

well an arc light kinda by definition is going flicker at mains frequencies I'd imagine.
probably in a nasty way too, fluros i think are somewhat sinusoidal, whereas the arc is probably going to taper off wait a bit then start up again at a moderate brightness.

oh well, lesson learnt for next time ;->

It seems if you can adjust the shutter speed then you can largley eliminate the flicker

Nick, did you try downscaling your video to match the D90 and Glen's output? Or was the aspect ration wildly different as well?

My videos are soo wide angle they are hardly worth watching by themselves - I might try making a highlight clip as there are some great moments.
