Marayong Season 7, Round 4 - Beetleweights - August 22nd

So thats the date in the season 7 thread, sounds reasonable enough.

Plan was for a full on beetleweight event only. Also some discussion with regard to a beetleweight arena was brought up.

Planning on just the one beetleweight myself this time. would be great to have a big field of robots again, as the last two beetle events have been awesome Cool and given how much the robots are improving over the last pair of events this one should be pretty killer.

Might even make a trophy for it because i have nothing better to do anymore Laughing

Discuss

Sounds good, Massive just needs a charge to be ready.

Re the arena, Now I have a welder, I am leaning towards a steel tube frame. Steel is pretty light compared to wood panels and is easy to bolt together with brackets.

The steel panels can have lighter plywood filler panels on the back to make them stiffer and 25 x 25 or 25 x 50 tube around the edges, which would make it very ridged. That sort of construction is well within the budget.

Sure, I will be doing stuff in the workshop all weekend anyway.

Massive is all good to go and I really should charge up the packs for some driving practise.

It better be a robot and not an actual beetle.

Toy based?
