the air gap would mean two extra layers to keep clean though…I'm just thinking of the cameras.

Nick, those lights were a great improvement. Thanks for all of your effort.

Thanks, it was an interesting build and I plan to use what I learned to build more for my workshop.

So I think the arena setup went pretty well. Still haven't solved the problem of the walls bowing out but I dunno if we can ever really solve that.

Just to document a few things:
- Set up wall panels use one or two panels to make sure the walls are square in corners. Setup all the panels then fit floor afterwards. Think this was the first time we got 4 bolts in every panel in a while.
- Put roof beams parallel to door.
- The thin pieces of polycarb go in the centre two sections. These are approx 90mm thinner than other ones. Screw up through the timber and down into the outside of the arena preferably using existing holes.

The door latch seemed to work better but it could probably use another one or two of the same style ones.

The 15mm screws around the outside aren't long enough to be effective. 20mm ones make work slightly better and 25mm ones are too long and go right through.

Lights were great. I think we are pretty sorted for that in future.

Robots may hit the roof and I think we need some way of stabilising the lighting system . There was one point where roadkill nearly sent one of them topping down onto the crowd.

Also we need to check that panel I think it make have the beginnings of a crack where that impact is.

Polycarb could probably be replaced and might be time to think about 10mm/12mm if we could afford it. While I don't think anything flying off the bots with the 1/4 is going to cause any trouble my fear is two spinners throwing one of the robots into it.

Watch the weight when you go to the thicker poly, just check it'll still fit the trailer weight and be human portable as the full panels.

I'm still happy to make some clamps for the metal strapping to go under the arena floor, one way or another that should stop the bowing.

It's a bit more involved but I wonder about the idea of putting springs on the clamps, let the wall bow out like 10mm against some very stiff springs, it'd take the shock load down somewhat.
Over time the crack would still fill with crud though. Crack opens crud falls in crack doesn't quite close.

Well after the Vivid event I think we are done with the current poly for a full combat event.

It has some pretty big scratches and gashes so I think its time for a replacement. Luckily we have enough cash in the coffers to cover this, insurance and a new floor.

Does anyone have any issues with doing this for our next few years of events?

Regards

Steve

Can you keep the current poly as a sacrificial layer for your new stuff?

Or recycle the old walls as roof panels?

Insurance has been paid.

We have enough cash (~3k) left for to do the polycarb.

So I am going to go ahead and order the new polycarb. Old Polycarb will then go to roof. If anyone wants OLD OLD polycarb in QLD left me know and I can save you a few sheets. But I wouldn't use it for anything too serious the old roof stuff is probably pretty screwed.

It's pretty scratched and dirty. You could use it but I think few hundred for new 3mm would be easier
