I found an A123 supplier Cool

A few of you may remember when we all use to buy NiCD cells, well we bulk ordered them from Master Instruments, who now carries the A123 cells, the legit ones!

I've just emailed them for a price per cell and what their bulk discounts are Cool

Master Instruments was a PITA to deal with - I think Brett had to supply an ACN number to even start an order and wanted a large quantity order. I hope they have changed, but when I went there to pick up an order, they had the look of an old-skool behind the times business Sad

I have ABN and ACN and am willing to buy a Bulk lot to retail to roboteers if there is sufficient interest.

That could definitely work! The last time Brett did an order, I think the minimum quantity was 100 cells - hopefully that has lowered.

Theres a guy in the Melbourne store called Frank Bloenfield (or something like that), who is quite a helpful friendly guy.. The rest of them were fairly "meh" sorts..

I bought some new batteries for a clients UPS's a few months back and said hello to him then.. He remembered the bulk Sanyo orders and asked how the Robots were going.

I told him that we had all moved on from NiCd/NiMhs to LiFe (A123)'s and he said he hadnt heard of them, so I told him to "Get with the times (nicely with a smile)" and check them out.. Good to hear that they listened and now stock them. Smile

Hi guys
The Queensland guy replied and said they only do wholesale and don't sell cells individually and that they usually make them up in a battery packs in Sydney....but that is the Queensland guys version of what they do...maybe you guys can get em easier. Count us down for 12 of them if you do order!

I've ordered off MI before, wasn't too bad
fairly normal for a wholesaler.

I'll give their sydney office a ring tomorrow and see if I can get prices on MOQ, 50 and 100.

Just going off batteries for a sec

Do you guys think this would work ......for getting rid of the dead zone on the blue speed controllers?

This why both speed controllers are moving forwards so there wont be the dead zone of one going forwards and one going backwards . Its a belt that will do the reversing rather than the electronics .
Hoping it will fix the blue speedos steering problems!

What do you think?

Well the motor direction shouldn't really matter. To change it you just reverse the polarity. You could do a few tricks with the mixing to make the speedos run in the same direction.

I'm just trying to get rid of the delay that happens when one speedo is told to go forward and one is told to go backwards (the dead zone)to just make the robot go forwards.

Its this delay that makes the robot turn rather than go straight. It goes straight if you slam the remote forwards but if you do it slowly it turns. Very annoying...Marto do you think the software could be told to compensate for this?

No. However if you just make it so they are just both wired up going forwards like you said then play with directions on the controller mixing.

Or just save the pain and buy a proper one.

Swapping the wires on the motor will have exactly the same effect as twisting the belt.

Yeah...but it would good to find a technique to make the most of blue-ies !

If me and Jules couldn't use the cheap blue speed controllers we never would have been able to afford to get hooked on robots ha ha!

The bang bang method is really cheap and works pretty well, also the bules could just be used for weapon controllers.
