Yeh, but battlebots used the same sounds over and over again...

Really the most important thing I think should be overdubbed is the commentary. You then get time to come up with good humor and good wording. But having a crowd of adults there booing and yelling doesn't appeal to kids either.

Have you guys ever gone looking for royalty free music? There is a reason its free some of it is ok but you have to do a lot of digging. If you aren't going to pay for it be prepared to spend quite a few hours searching for something which is decent.

Its ok for background but you don't want it as like a theme or something you edit a highlights vid too.

I think theres lots of composers that would give permission for you to use their tracks on TV for free, especially as its non commercial and they'll get credit in the credits Wink

This team was the same. Most of his robots had trouble just moving

No idea about this one, but it competed in Battlebots 2.0 as well.

Actually there is a bugger load of robots that fall into that category. Same with RobotWars.

I'm not saying that TV can't be done. I'm just saying to be realistic and see what you have to work with. Not everyone is capable to be able to bring a perfect robot.

Angus hasn't sold out *quite* as many shows as AC/DC this year, but he is pretty hot on keyboards and in the right sort of genre. Come to think of it, I have several CDs of royalty free production effects and industrial sounds and loops - I must get them out and have a listen.

The robots name was Stewbot. The fight wasn't shown on air even if it was entertaining. The logical reason would be at the next event you will have 10 guys turn up with radio controlled cars covered with lego thinking they could get their faces on tv too.

I'd rather see a TV segment showing the sport as a sport, not berated and twisted for an entertainment show. Entertainment shows get old and people stop watching, but sports shows are generally viewed due to passion or deep interest. 20million soccer nuts just watched the world cup for a month, which is a completely boring thing to watch (IMHO Razz ), but people love the sport with a passion, and it's massively popular!

I'm in favor of Stevo's documentary idea to try to get it off the ground first instead of trying to spin another RobotWars/Battlebots 'entertainment' show Very Happy

That doesn't come under crap robots Very Happy that comes under total entertainment Very Happy

Not sure about a doco... Doco's don't bring fans and let people have followings... They might be interested, but the next week they are looking at something new...

A few smoke makers in bots will liven things up and give the commentator some action to comment on when things get slow

I can see where you are going with this, but I agree with Aaron and Steve

I am somewhere between these options - we definitely don't need a Comedy Central production, but a documentary format might be a bit slow paced. Viewers need to be introduced to the sport (the doco part) and they need something with a bit of pace and conflict to keep them coming back, as Aaron mentioned

Perhaps we could all go off & find an existing program that has a suitable format that we can adapt? No sense in reinventing the wheel...

Search youtube for dyrodium and people have pirate uploaded my tracks already, not sure if I should be proud or annoyed. Laughing Making the ambient stuff we'd need is easy, i'd love to do that so we can support the sport! I did a really successful track for my old schools 25th anniversary video last year, except they said 5min, then decided to make the video 7min and stretch my track with a crap house editing program Evil or Very Mad At least I got credit...
