As Dylon said Not enough fights on the day "There is the problem"

We should not have to harass existing members to turn up at events.
It does not matter if there is one event or 20 events per year.
We have all have time constraints on us which make it imposable to make all events.
So do the maths, MORE members = more bots at each event = more fights on the day = more like minded people on this forum

Considerig four roboteers have come from my former high school, I have considered hitting them up for some interested people. Obviously a school of nerds lends itself to robot builders.

I do agree that we seem to have lost some of the excitement from our matches, and we don't seem to be having as many matches in a day. However, I would say that we should do something about it rather than complain and give up. If we want more matches, then we make more matches. 9am arrival, 10am start. 2 rounds before lunch at 1pm. 2 rounds after lunch, then final.

Absolutely true, a lower turn-out shouldn't mean less matches, we need to keep the pace up and have extra rounds.

We have tried early starts etc etc and im all for it .I think turning up at 9am with a running robot is the first challenge most face.
Getting more battles in each day is good if you can get your robot to them with the 99% spinner rate in our rounds thats getting harder and harder and the between round motality rate is on the increase.
I think the only answer is reducing the amount of battles each year, giving more time to build and repair etc
Its only a suggestion but maybe a battle day quarterly and making
Battleshed one of them.
4 battles a year doesnt sound much but at the current participation rate thats about all that most are managing anyway
If the 4 battles are great battles as opposed to 7-8 crappy ones then it makes sense and if potential builders come to a great battle days instead of the ones they see now then surely thats going to work for us.
There has been suggestions of different event types and classes and im keen to see that developed but all current members would have to participate in any new class to make it worth the while.any less than 6 robots in a class is a waste of time to me.
If 4 featherweight rounds isnt enough then battle-build days etc on another class would also be an option if numbers warrant it
Over time if membership increases and numbers dictate it we can always add more days and classes.

Early starts are one thing, we also need to not mess about between rounds. Everyone has good chargers nowadays and most have extra batteries so we should be able to have a round at least once per hour and more like every 30 minutes - we have done that in the past...

We talked about fewer rounds late last year and going from 8 to 6 was not so popular; I would have to find another hobby for half a year if we did that!

Roll call

The event is just 6 days away and so far we seem to have

Cobra
YaMum
Misfortune
Slave

Anyone else likely to have a running bot for next Saturday? I'm thinking that if we don't get 6 bots, perhaps we should just cancel...

Glen was doubtful about cobra even being running, so yeah, it's looking a little sad. Sad

Our options could be to turn it into a build day , have lots and lots of fights, but that's not too possible for robots like scissorhands... or postpone.

im trying to get something going with these hammerdrills

will call the robot brawler, basically a fast tough nut with a lifter but defo wont be ready to next week, could be ready for two weeks time but hard to tell with finishing old job and starting new job and extra work with that.

Will get it made ASAP so i have at least something until i get some of my more elaborate designs ironed out

Hopefully should be able to have a robot made in a week or two but unsure so if theres few numbers then maybe a build day/meeting or something maybe best

I was going to try and make it, but with moving into the new house, and cleaning the old, it was going to be a busy weekend. So I would welcome a break. I could do a build day.

Maybe cancel to enable prep for battleshed.

"Maybe cancel to enable prep for battleshed.".....Just looked at battleshed thread, no comments for 5 months!!! You only have to look at the other states to see that there in worse shape then nsw is.

I believe that we still have enough numbers at this time to turn around the current problem of enough bots and builders If we all want too that is.

What needs to be discussed is how we are going to do this and in the near future.
So are you up for it?
Do you want it?
How do you want it?
When do you want it?
