Marayong Season 6, Round 3 - July 18th
Marayong Season 6, Round 3 - July 18th
After round 2, Misfortune is obviously the bot to beat; who's up for the challenge? July 18th is in School holidays so we should have more bots this time, Angus promised to have something sorted out and I hope to get Scissorhands back in the arena with several improvements.
We also have to have a club Annual General Meeting with elections and reports.

too early to say for now but id like to just bring one robot next time. moving half a house worth of stuff to keep 2 robots going is abit much now haha.
plenty of work to do before then but i think i can get it working better then ever sounds like our good friend misfortune has taken a bit of punishment in return so it could be anyones game next time
oh yeah i should probably clarify, whats the setup with regard to points for the year? do we run on an individual robot score, a team score or both? think Courtney was telling me but i was probably in another world _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

unsure what ill come up with
am hopeing to do a new horizontal disc spinner with steel wedge front end
need to get garage sorted, remove orbits frame and disc setup from car and gut that completely then organise what parts i have and what design i can pull off the quickest and best
if not that prob a lame wedge using parts that can get trashed in a quick and nasty number filler crapheap _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

I have a week off soon so hopefully can come up with something half-decent

Time to bolt a horizontal spinner (or two!) on the front! I didn't time it precisely, but Slave lasted longer than any other bot against Misfortune so you are doing it right so far.

haha thanks Nick
With a bottom plate on it might have kept going even longer, but a motor wire got severed, my thin stainless bottom plate was bending far too easily unfortuantely and that was catching on the floor so it was lose/lose
EDIT: yeah time for a weapon hopefully converting to *sigh* drill drives won't take too long anyway so there should be time left over

misfortune will be there to cause some havoc again, had a quick look over it from the event and only damage was some bent bolts holding the bearing blocks which was why the beater was looking a little bent, easy fix with some high tensile bolts for next time and not even a scratch on the frame haha _________________ Barton Robotics Youtube Channel:

im getting there,
bar setups mounted, need to focus on motor mounting and running the belt next then time for a spinup test and then start on welding baseplate and the guts
Would like an extra week to go over everything properly as it looks ill be a lil rushed and wont have time for any testing/late nights and alot of work in short time once again but am hopeful it makes an appearance
Hopeing once weopon system is done ready to go the rest of the robot will not be so difficult to get together. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

That's great news Chris, it also means we can have a quick AGM for the club.
THan's 6 bots confirmed and we haven't heard about Slave or Flexo. Sounds like we will have from 6 to 8 bots on the day.

Russell is hoping to attend, we should have Plan-G up and running for it (hopefully, Russell has rewound the burnt out motor (in reverse this time) so its like the hardcore way or adjusting the brush timing.) _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets
