indeed. good to see lots of new robots new faces and some enthusiasm (where we all there on time Shocked )

new misfortunes weapon is epic good. the rest needs work but it will be a very solid robot soon Cool good to see slave making its first few fights too. not too shabby at all for a first robot!

cobra did alot more damage to demon then i thought, looks like the weapon pulley somehow drove its way into the front bearing of the motor and jammed it up = smokin! aside from that all is good so not a bad event all in all Smile

bring on round 2. with nick, courtney, andrew and jeff(s) back in the comp we should have quite an impressive turnout Cool

Entertaining day, visitors even stayed right to the end.

I am still working on my bot today so thats a good sign.....

Was great to finally compete Smile

End result was, i was pleased with how Slave went; although it must be said i had to have Courtney and Glen lend me various significant & expensive upgrade components such as a scorpion XL (as one of my uber-micro servos crapped itself after about a minute of testing) and since the scorpion had a spektrum receiver in it... digital radio also Smile then when the SLA's died about 2/3 of the way through a match it became clear that i would need something better to get through the next fight, glen kindly lent me an A123. So it ended up being more of a top-end robot than a first-time robot in terms of equipment, so it was clearer to see that the various aspects of the rushed construction (which conflicted with the original design concepts, as i was quick to point out Smile) let it down in the arena, such as the friction drive.

I still wanted to see how it fared against a spinner... just so i know wether to start adding armour / making a new shell before i go too much further... but it was not to be Smile Cobra gave it a good beating but all that did apart from scratches (and defeat) was loosen up one of the drive tension bolts - im not going to refine that as i'll be ditching the friction drive system now anyway.

The Slave you see next event will be markedly different.

Also thanks to Angus (i think it was?) that loaned a bind plug so we could set up the Spektrum, and Geoff as always for having us Smile

Misfortune looked very impressive. Look forward to testing out my angled bullet steel against it. Hopefully Flexo will be ready for the next one, and up to the standard I wanted. I always envisaged Flexo having an active weapon like a flame thrower...

Anyways, the next event is scheduled for 4 weeks away I beieve. Nick and I were having a discussion about it. What are people's thoughts?
