JAEMUS'S VIDEOS FROM BATTLESHED '09

HD 720p - Nikon D90 DSLR @ 24fps

These fights are in order and green indicates the victorious robot.

HEAT ONE

  • Bane vs Catastrophe
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ87EWG-Lks
Note: This video is actually a HD slideshow; apologies to Angus and Team Rotwang as I hadn't decided that i wanted to video each match at this point! (Also note that this file is small.)
Bane takes on Catastrophe, the new vertical spinner, and manages to fend off a few nasty hits without too much damage. Although at one point stuck under the arena wall requiring an unstick, the victory went to Bane for this match.

  • Bender vs Cobra
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F--YmC4shsI
An aggressive Cobra dislodges Bender's tyre armour, and Bender's spinning on the spot causes it to fly out and then get jammed underneath it, high-siding the robot resulting in immobilisation and a victory for Cobra.

  • Misfortune vs Vendetta
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsaqHTDZiYQ
Misfortune spins up and starts laying into the wedge offered gamely by Vendetta. After bending it up a bit, Misfortune rips it clean off and then starts bouncing Vendetta across the arena! Vendetta taps out for a win for Misfortune.

  • Plan-G vs Slave
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dkwkodwrW8
Plan-G and Slave battle it out briefly in traditional wedge style until Plan-G suffers a mechanical failure; giving victory to Slave.

  • Rapture vs Puncturer
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_uj3iQurdI
Rapture deprives Puncturer of it's hammer thwack weapon within seconds, quickly followed by a piece of the arena wall. Then Rapture proceeds to place a long series of dents in Puncturer's side plates (and more on the front wall) before Puncturer taps out, handing the win to Rapture.

HEAT TWO

  • Bane vs Rapture
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OD2E8JOCTpk
Bane manages to shove Rapture around but then mysteriously stops dead after a light tap from Rapture!

  • Slave vs Puncturer
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NqWRWrj67c
Slave wedges Puncturer around the arena, not fearing the thwack hammer. Managing to get a few really good pushes in, depsite one being stopped in full flight by a peice of the arena floor protruding upwards, Slave takes the match on judge's decision.

  • Plan-G vs Vendetta
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEs9xFN_fY0
Plan-G makes a good showing against Vendetta for about 30 seconds until it looses a drive. Then it can do little more than turn in place and be pushed around by a very effective Vendetta. Plan-G taps out for a win for Vendetta.

  • Evil Twin vs Bender
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GzsDxm9234
Just seconds into the match a violent explosion of titanium sparks from Bender hitting Evil Twin's armour provides some of the best pyrotechnics of the event! Bender gets a quick shot in on Evil Twin's wheel and locks it up, resulting in a instant smoke cloud from Evil Twin's drive and a tap out. Victory for Bender!

  • Cobra vs Catastrophe
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxjteX38EFc
Cobra and Catastrophe come together in a spectacular display of robots hurling each other across the arena! The two robots explode away from each other upon impact until Catastophe loses main power from a good shove from Cobra.

HEAT THREE

  • Bane vs Cobra
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qInscY8djZU
Cobra waits for its opportunities and strikes (much like its namesake), showing itself able to get in under Bane's axe thwack weapon occasionally, and manages a few really fast pushes into walls. Bane was able to pin Cobra using its length and and axe on a few brief occasions but it's not enough to sway the Judge's favour!

  • Plan-G vs Evil Twin
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIe5s--VJH8
A short time into the match a colossal impact sees Scissorhands catapults itself into the air off Plan-G's wedge for some serious air time! Plan-G takes everything Evil Twin can dish out, for a while, allowing Evil Twin to catapult itself around the arena, but then gets stuck on the arena a few times and then taps out with mechanical failures.

  • Bender vs Misfortune
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0pS3Gu2_tA
Bender and Misfortune battle it out in a titanic confrontation of vertical vs horizontal spinner! Misfortune's weapon is destroyed but it survives longer than Bender, whose LiPo battery is to go up in a very large cloud of smoke. This of course leaves Misfortune as the winner!

  • Puncturer vs Vendetta
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ID-pXfgIs0
Vendetta's powerful drive proves more than enough to scoop up Puncturer and hurl it into the nearest wall; Puncturer's spinning motion usually proves effective at preventing this from happening easily but the highly manoeuverable Vendetta takes advantage the moment Puncturer stops spinning. Judges descision gives this one to Vendetta!

  • Rapture vs Slave
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2uqWXDNJ-g
Rapture gears up to take some chunks out of Slave's relatively thin armour; and does just that! Slave hangs in there without terminal damage until, suddenly, Rapture blows an A123 cell's guts right out of the robot like a rocket! Rapture taps out to assess the damage.

Stay tuned!

Great event guys i had a lot of fun at the 09 battleshed Smile
Getting to sydney seems so much easier now, it must be the new roads along with having a decent navigation GPS (i have been replaced /sadface), it was kinda funny thought at times the GPS didnt know where we were on the new parts of the Hume and tried to rerout us across a padock to rejoin the previous part lols.

Thanks Jeff for having us all over to do battle once again and thank you welchie for the accomidations, hope to see you all in melbourne next round Smile

I've got one video up so far.
http://www.youtube.com/user/kkeerroo

Vendetta did well, just needs new shock absorbers and the battery conections seemed a bit fragile, but it was ready for every fight before the draws were up.

I've still got Gary's map book Embarassed

No video from Sunday night.

And having grown up at Coolum Beach I can say that Bondi sucks. No idea what the fuss was all about.

Nice slow motion shots. Seems like it needs a lot of light though.

yeah, has got rather dark now its made it to the computer. I've figured out how to increase the brightness so maybe the next one will be better. Need to convince people to install skylights into arenas.

Great event guys! Thanks Welch for letting us stay at his place. Hope to see you guys again at Robowars Smile.
After what happened with the LiPo battery in Sydney and what happened with the flamethrower in Brisbane, I think the arenas need some sort of ventilation system.

Thanks again Gary for letting me come with you.
