Well, with a week to go I'm just going to throw something totally RANDOM together... been too busy / broke to persue the crusher plan and have been advised that winches blow up tz85as instantly in stall conditions. So no crusher for now.
Suddenly... this thing
Plan was for a lifter.. but spins a tad too fast for that in its current state. Will see what happens. _________________ ( •_•)

Nope! Printed belts would be totally useless in a real timing belt situation... no cables to keep them from stretching.
So, with this being a robot combat event and all, and me wanting to compete in the event... thought I'd try my darndest to get a machine up and running.
Introducing:
It's been pretty damn fun to put together - didn't want to do just another regular lifter like everyone else so went down the totally retarded route. I think it should be called "forked in the head". >_>
It does work, though the forces in that thin braided steel cable are insane, already had one spectacular failure when one end broke free at full loading... Needs a lot of tweaking time and the return cable fitted which is no quick or easy task... not to mention front fork stabilizers.
Now for the bad news... being organiser of this event I've been BOMBARDED with phone calls, emails and crap constantly. Even to the point where they will 'follow up' a few hours later if I don't reply instantly. As everyone knows when you workshop you workshop hard... and this has just destroyed the few days I had free to build it.
On top of it all, I've now come down with a sudden and really nasty sore throat (like, as of yesterday). I'm hoping it'll be gone by weekend... but has ruined my energy and motivation even further.
SO... I either manage to rip the forklift off and add another boring regular lifter arm, or just forgo having a robot due to having to EO the event.
Hahahah forklift style, that's kickass Yeah man just upgrade the cable some!
ill lol if you can lift something wholesale and carry it around instead of just tipping it over, haha
Video is amuse too _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Nah, the cable isn't the problem it was just a not quite tight enough connection, there's heaps of issues that I won't have time to correct... _________________ ( •_•)

Eyy, nah they're from AusXmods, T5 pulleys that came with an 8mm bore, I bored it out to 13mm for a loose fit over the 1/2" shafts as I didn't have time to buy real bearings... I'll be reusing them for a drum spinner, great quality belts and pulleys for the price. 45 Tooth iic. _________________ ( •_•)
I see, good find. I feel a purchase in the near future. Was looking at Fenner pulleys via a local hardware store. These appear to have less mass and readily available. Cool.

Yeah, before I found ausxmods they were either really hard to find locally, or stupidly overpriced. I hope he keeps carrying them in T5, does 10mm and 16mm wide belts and they have the real steel braid and not 'kevlar' reinforcing that lots of crappy belts have. _________________ ( •_•)
Thanks to the 'Team Overkill" Diet - I'm pretty sure Roadkill weighs even less now thanks to all the little bites and chunks out of it. After being thrown at the arena door so hard it damaged the locks (sorry) ... Roadkill needs a new base plate.
Not too bad for a 5yo piece of scrap 6mm poly! But it's gotta go.
Sadly I somehow managed to buy the highest quality cheesemetal countersunk 1/4" screws to hold it in place, almost all of which decided to jam up and needed gentle convincing to remove.
A fairly fatal flaw was also uncovered - hitting the mild steel spikes when the bot is upsidedown well, stops it being able to drive.
Nothing a little grinding can't fix!
So... new base plate with M8's... and a few other fixes and she'll be good to go! Good old 12V Kmart drills
