Its a she actually and i will have there bot and equipment with me so sounds like it should be fine.

i would prefer if spinners could compete in this possible second chance thing.
They are Grudge matches so that would mean the 2 competitors agree to fight then fight so for the people who have issue with a spinner they could chose not to grudge spinners or only grudge them if the spinners driver agree to disable the weapon. As it would be as many grudge matches as possible people may be more careful about fighting a spinner with active weapon. For a spinner to achive the maximum they can they may need heeps of fights which may lead to choising to fight people without the weapon so they can get the numbers up.
( or maybe Day1 no spinners. day 2 spinners or some time when the comp is almost done that way the chances of people out due to damage will be minimal if its spinners in the last 2~3 hours of the comp.)

Or at least allow someone to grudge a spinner as well separate from this losers comp if they wish.

As to the scoring im not sure. maybe as you are eliminated the mean of all the competitors scores in the second comp becomes your starting score. Or to be more fair and to reward you for lasting longer then the others more take the mean of the top 3 scores in the second comp and give that to the bot. All this would start at the end of the second round. Someone will probably have a better idea

Tag team? Sensless fun to keep the crowd and builders happy? Tag team that has the most wins is crowned tag team champs. No scores needed, just winners and losers..

Might be easiest to just give up on the modified double eliminator and run as many round robin rounds as possible.

Neweyn has his system sorted.

Or there is the Kkeerroo system.

hmm, a bit late in the game for major changes in the event structure, but if everyone likes it better, I dont mind, provided Neweyn is happy to run the scheduling for the event, because I have no idea how the round robin system runs.

Neweyn ? Anyone object ? Like it better ?

I have no issues running a round robin for the second chance comp, recently we have been using our interpretation of the kerison scoring system (mentioned in the ideas fest thread) to help eliminate the chance of 2 bots winning the comp.

The system we have been using is as follows:

Judges decision
Each of the 3 judges gets 5 points to award between the 2 bots, more points to the winning bot.

Knock Out
15 points to the winner

Plus bonus points based on time
15 points up to 5 seconds into the fight
10 points up to 1 min into the fight
7.5 points up to 1.5 mins into the fight
5 points up to 2 mins into the fight
2.5 points up to 2.5 mins into the fight
1 point up to 2 min 55 sec into the fight

BYE
7.5 points

The only issue with a round robin is that once started you really can't ad more bots, hence we would need to run it with more bots in the comp than we start with. hence each round robin round we would have a few bye's.

How many bots do you think we would need to run in the comp?

of course we would need to ad a bit to the scoring system I mentioned to allow for late entries to gain more points

If it was run the round robin style instead of the modified double elimination (like garys post suggested) bots would not need to be added as know how many people are entered at the start of the event.

I think your right Brett, probably to late to change now,

Also the current spreadsheet is setup for up to 16 bots, however if you wanted to run a round robin system for the main comp we could forget the computer and do it on the whiteboard fairly easily.

Yes it’s to protect you and the other builders in a crowded pit area.

You are sharing bench space with other builders.

Once your bot is in the arena and the door is locked its not going to hurt anyone but if it takes of in the pits that’s scary.

Imagine if your sharing bench with someone’s hammer bot and it goes off.

Yes it shouldn’t be powered up and its wheels should be lifted so it can’t drive of and the weapon should be pined but the safety features built in to the electrical system is part of these procedures.

There frequency needs checked to .

It’s a lot safer at home when you’re working on it or testing it to.

Even my sweeper bot has failsafes.

Good luck to everyone. I'm in Europe so won't be able to make it. Have a good event. And hopefully NSW can win again Smile
