Andrew: 2 good places for belts and pulleys are:

Consoliated Bearings www.conbear.com

BSC Motiontech www.bsc.com.au

I have used Conbear many times and the staff know their stuff. Wherever you go, make sure you know exactly what size pulleys and belts you need - I don't think they do refunds on belts. Figure how much your parts would cost on RCM first and use that as a guide - some places sell really expensive pulleys meant for extra heavy duty that we really don't need

Conbear in particular don't list everything they sell on their web sites. Its worth ringing and asking if they stock what you need. Make sure to download a program to calculate the right belt length too.

Dumhed and I will both be there. Currently we will be there with two robots, we are not actually the same team, so we can battle each other Cool

We just need to get our robots done, Dumhed just started a new one tonight (he retired rolfchopter) and I pulled my one back out after not quite getting it done by a few hours last time. After a few improvments it should be ready on time Smile and still with only a week or so's work total in it! Laughing

@ Nick- thanks for that. i would not know wxactle the type or whatever, its a v-belt i think (sorta like a fan belt with a v shape i am certain). It will be a 1:1 reduction but if spinups too long i will make it 2:1.

Wheres this program which i can use, i have not seen any around.

That's the plan Smile

There won't be any edges to grab this time, but after doing some drilling and cutting last night I'm a bit worried about the main armout material in the event of a hard hit.

Ahh well, carnage is where the fun is! Razz

@ Andrew: look at http://mdmetric.com/tech/bodybeltcalc.htm for a good belt calc. It gives you both inch and metric, which can be handy when working with parts from RCM. When using this calc, make sure to use the pitch diameter, not the outside diameter.

RCM has a calc on the belt ordering page, but its not as good.

Glen, u can always go back to the old aerial setup that worked reasonably well.
Worse comes to worse i will bring my radio gear (40 mhz skyport 6) but i will need it for the 3kg rumble and for some playing round with 3kg robot.

Nick still has his old radio gear i am certain which u may be able to use and jeff has numerous radio's.
