Vic Backyard Event
Gday all,
The arena is ready for a backyard event, all the barriers are in place and the polly-carb is fixed. I'll post some pix on the public photo's tonight.
I was going to suggest Sunday the 26th Oct. That gives us 2 1/2 weeks, is that enough time.
BBQ as well, my shout. _________________ Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

If only I could get the damn speed controller fixed (and I gave the microswitches to my cousin) . If I can get the Scorpion fixed and the weapon mount going, then maybe I might come. But that's a BIG maybe. _________________ It seemed like a good idea on paper...

I should be there with a robot. Those DSE drills seem to be quite easy to take apart and get the clutch off.

Damien,
You should try to come along anyways, if you can't get it going I'm sure we will have some time to get things moving for you.

I agree, a broken robot never stoped anyone from competing.
I have heaps of micro switches here. you can have as much as you like. _________________ Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

So fixing the blown side of the speed controller is out of the question then? I'll try to get it going first, but until then, one or two microswitches would probably do. _________________ It seemed like a good idea on paper...

do you know why the scorpion blew a side? if not someone there might be able to hunt down the problem so it can be avoided in the future.

The repair guy said it was either a miscalibration (I don't know how I could've screwed that up) or the FETs on one side shorted, so they have to be replaced. But that's just a guess. _________________ It seemed like a good idea on paper...

Rob is probably in Canberra.
Matt and I are on track to be there with Ballistic and Pyrobot.
An address would be helpful. If someone could PM _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

I was talking to daniel the other night, he still likes the idea of a round robin, I was just wondering what people think of the idea of running the Kerison scoring system they talk about in the second page of the idea's fest thread?
Or if someone else has a suggestion to stop multiple people ending up on the same score at the end of the day? My thoughts are that if we choose to use the same system as last time, we just finish the day without declaring a winner of the day.
