Vic Event 18/05/08
The event would be here at Jam Jerrup. Now I have a roof for the arena weather isn't such a problem.
As I mentioned to the guys here today at the meeting, I am working on having an event at Lunar Park. If all goes well it will be an awesome place for an event, Ill keep you all posted.
Can I get a show of hands for the 18th of May. _________________ Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

start time at 11 works well.
registrations I would aim for 1030.
Ill draw up a plan for the day this weekend and post the timings as if it were a public event.
fight 1 at time A
fight 2 at time B ect.
lunch, fillers, backup robots.
Ill have a better idea when a few more teams acknowledge this thread. _________________ Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

Well that's 5 or 6 bots so far, so if we run a round robin style event (not chicago shootout as not enough bots) that's 4 - 5 fights each. and 10 - 15 fights for the day, Plus a finals series if there is time or need.
The excel spreadsheet now includes a random bot selection for the rounds, and a couple of other enhancements.
I figure we can streamline the ideas we were working on last year, ie the proving that your bot works for a bye, Last year we had to run for 3 mins in the areana, What do people think of making the rule that you have to demonstrate working for points but not for 3 mins (a simple forward back left right weapon on off etc?)

I like the idea of proving you can work to earn the bye. 3Not sure if you should need to prove a working weapon as you can compete with a broken weapon and go well if you can drive well.

That is a very valid point. and on second thoughts myself with a none active weaponed bot would have a slight advantage if we had to prove the weapon works.

Thats a better idea, just proof of function.
If the weapon works or not has verry good arguments on both sides, shal we cross that bridge if we come to it?
I leaning more on the, full working, weapon if its got it, side. _________________ Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

Well Mat and I put in a full day yesterday on the bots and we can report 2 working ready to go bots. The only thing left to do is to pick up some more drills as spares.

Excellent, should be a good event.
I'm keen to run it like a public event, in prep for Lunar Park and or the indoor off road centre.
So I can get a grab on numbers, if you are thinking of coming leave a quick message here. just a I'll be there will do.
cheers. _________________ Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

Team net has experenced setbacks mostly due to my stupidness with the new plastique but with no assignents to do next saturday it should be ready (otherwise the old one will get some form of protection on the front and chucked in the arena.
Last check both me and my sister (kirst on the forum) will be there. but unfortuantly only 1 bot between 2. Oneday we may rectify that.

Good news,
I have had a chat to the owner of RE 4x4 (www.re4x4.com.au)
He is very keen to have an event there I'm going there next week to meet with him and go over some details.
This weekend is said to be a wet one. Fear not, for I have all bases covered.
The roof will be on the arena, the pits will be in the shed and I will have a tarp over the path between I'll post some pix tomorrow.
There will be BBQ, bring some meat if you would like, though I will have sausages and drinks gong for $1 each _________________ Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
