RoboWars 5 - Destination Devastation - January 19+20 - 2008

Greetings Everyone.

Here is the start of the RoboWars 5 Thread - discussions, trash-talk (within reason), accomodation arrangements, questions, etc in here.

Try to keep posts here relevant to the event please.

Registrations are open on the Wiki Page here
http://www.robowars.org/wikka/RoboWars5

**- Robots registered *after* January 1 (or not registered at all) will be hit with a double entry-fee before being allowed to compete, so make sure you let us know you are coming so we can handle the scheduling properly please

I have some interesting ideas on the cooker for this event that should please people, but they're not 100% locked in yet (next week or two should finalise them) - more coming soon.

yeah considering it costs like 300 for a few days ill pass

jake u still owe me 100 or whatever for last year too Smile

ill probably drive down, flyings all good but a roadtrip is needed for me i think plus getting a navigator for christmas so will make it alot easier and less stressful.

also will prob look into leeching accomadation from somebody, so if anybody can lend me a bed/floor space then would be greatly appreciative, love the melbourne trip but wanna do it on the cheaper side this time

Lamplighter FTW. Trav and I are staying there, so if we could contribute to car rental, it would be good.

Okay, just checked out the Lamplighter site for bookings. I'm looking at staying 18/19/20, anyone else in that boat?

Just looking at prices, they have the following available:

Twin share (2 beds, 3 guests max) = $99.00/Night ($33.00/Night per person with 3 people)
Family Share (4 beds, 5 guests max) =$155/Night ($31.00/Night per person with 5 people)

There are 4 twin shares currently available and only 1 family share. Thoughts people Razz

If someone wants to provide batteries, I can bring Punk for grudge matches, filler, expo etc. It was using 2.2Ah slas, and based on it's lack of armour they may be destroyed. So maybe if someone could grab 2 from Radio spares for the $7 VIP price, I'll pay you back and you can keep them when I'm done.

lol I wouldn't bet on it. Reboot and all the other rotwang robots will form another 4 at least. Laughing
Plus there's others who will leave it to the last minute.
I won't name names.

Iv`e been working on 2 and a 1/2 bots lately but just made a discovery of a flywheel for a virt. spinner so I`m starting all over again, concentrating on this one.
I can`t commit to this event yet but at least I will be back in the game seriously for 2008
I`m not rushing to slap this bot together bodgey style but if it works out in time I`ll be a late entry.

Angus, or did you mean Jeff F?

Probable Rotwang entries are MiniMower for Rob, Bender for Matt, Bane 3 for Me, Kronos: Badger for Rod and Rat for Dave.

Reboot is in bits for an upgrade.

Arena sweeper will be available.

I am thinking the Lightweight section is a mistake when someone pasted the page, otherwise we can oblige with a couple of 60’s.

As far as accommodation were happy to have visitors stay in Geelong. Problem is a long way from Sidetracked.
