Not sure if you already know this or not Nick. But there was a UK heavyweight called mousetrap that funnily enough was a giant mousetrap. With a spring powered trap mechanism that did 2/5's F#CK all damage.

Mousetrap didn't use a spring. The blue coil was just cosmetic. If you have a closer look you will see that there are two pneumatic rams that pull on chains that are attached to sprockets on each side of the trap. The weapon failed during Robot Wars because the chains snapped.

Its small but not the smallest but it is user friendly and a lot of the weight is in the rotor (pulley) part that can act as the flywheel.

The hub/armature/shoe is directional so it’s best to set it up so the springs are in tension.

There is a nice beefy aluminum casting to attach it to the frame of the bot and a large stump of the center shaft is accessible to weld/bolt the flipping arm to.
I would expect you would be thinking of some sort of spring/bungee return mechanism.

The rotor could be spun up via a belt or possibly direct driven from the armature end by making up some sort of drive shell to clear the armature and connect to the rotor.

If you wont to direct drive one there is another type that is easier to set up that way [XF ford] but I don’t currently have one of them.

They don’t grip as well as the one I am sending.

The clutch is great, thank you. Its all apart @ the moment and I've tested a few things. I would like to know how to remove the shaft if you know, is it pressed in or does the bottom cam bit unscrew.

Yes the shaft will press out in one piece, the big bearing is staked so you will need to re stake or lock tight it back together.

There is a counterweight and seal underneath that can be deleted once it’s apart.

Less weight and friction:)

The 2 taped holes that you can see are the boltholes for this other counterweight.

I have a large pulley puller here, so if I press the shaft from the top and out the bottom? The top being the small bearing.

Yes that will work nicely.
The seal comes out the small bearing end after removing the small bearing; just tap it out gently with a suitable drift from the big bearing end. There is another circlip holding the seal.

Hi sorry I didn’t notice your PM till yesterday.
You guessed right; V6 commodore.

They are called Poly-Rib belts and most cars run them nowadays.

The part number on the belts goes number of ribs e.g. 3 P for Polly Rib K is section then length A 4PK600 is the shortest automotive listing.

Probably the easiest pulley to get for the drive motor would be a car alternator pulley.

If you try an auto elec you might get one for nothing or I can post one. You might need to machine up a bush for the center hole or weld it and re drill it. 17mm as it comes.
