The silicon bane bots stuff looks fine to me, remember resistance in wiring is cross section and length and most bots use very short wire.

I would be more inclined to solder the vias as on my XXL the wires are soldered to the opposite side of the board to the Fets.

Progress

Progress report:

-Order sent in to jason for the IBC (should be here by the end of the week)

-motors from jaycar are in the shop (hopfully)

-and i have fugured out my design

Design Notes

The new Design for PoD is quite simple, i am going to get a carbonfiber motor bike helmet and use that pics of the PAD are still to come, it may look silly but it will give me ALOT of wait to play with (helmet waying in at max of 2kg).
leaving more room for bigger motors,

im off to mek the PAD now cya

(P.S thanks Angus for the idea)

Well done on your progress.
Just one suggestion.
I understand your PoD abbreviation but it might get a bit confusing if Nexus turns up with his bot Pod; maybe at least put it in full on your Wiki entry.

if by heaps expensive you mean $800 than yes
dad knows the local motorbike shop guy and he says that he can get a "last years season" helmet for next to nothing, here comes the most expensive budget bot ever

EDIT:
will do, thanks

Design

First Design PaD is done
http://www.robowars.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=1449
first off that isnt the colour scheme (its just easier for me to remeber this way)

the basics

Armour, hemet and metal sheeting (over the visor)
Pick, box metal (handle) and a builders pick

but the shape of the helmet provided a problem, it would roll. so puting brackets around the edges would stop that (they are off the ground so undercutters (IG) couldnt take them off)

also i didnt want the pick to (over time) damage the helmet so i descided to put a rubber bung in the holes to prevent wear

anything else? any sugestions?

LOL, visor will be either steel or chicken Razz

I would say it's got some pretty funky style, good luck with it.

Change of plan

i have put PoD aside for a little while and i am now focusing on a thwack bot named white lightning (which coinsidently i have done more on)

i have the frame and armour nearly done (three welds and two pannels left)
and i have the Drills (finaly)

The frame work (click here)

it has a box steel frame and armour made outof a washing machine (damn that stuff it tough)

and the drills (click here)

they are decent 12v drills, they came with good batteries (none of that ni-cad crap) they came with 2 batteries each, and one charger each.
i have run them through and the work perfectly. i will start hacking them later tonight or tomorrow.

(once again thanks angus for helping me out)

also if i have enough time (and weight) i may put a "pitchfork type thing on the front to catch other robots and asorted around the robot (they will be removable for when not needed) (oh and thanks again angus)

that reminds me, should i bring a power board to robowars??

comments, ideas are welcome

cya

GMC's drills have NiCD's Wink 1300mah or 1500mah depend on model Razz

Yes, bring a power board, I forgot last time and couldn't drill and charge batteries at the same time. Although I'm sure you can borrow someones socket if you get really desperate.
