From the same guy who built crazy susan, comes his latest bot "Buster"

build report photos are here http://homepage.mac.com/hrucker/buster/PhotoAlbum12.html

This is worth a look.. classic example of what happens when you have a CNC machine and too much time on your hands.. This guys machining is a work of art.

if you dont know what crazy susan is, and either have a broadband connection, or dont mind waiting while the site downloads, look here

Yeah i saw that a day or two ago. I wouldnt want to put that work of art into the arena. somebody might scratch it Very Happy.

That think is something else though. Each part is beautiful and just so much detail.

Actually I just read on the RFL forum that the weapons bar was machined out of a solid block of titanium !! Shocked
---
to quote .. "is that weapon bar a solid piece of titanium? Looks to be the right color, but I know NOBODY would be THAT crazy... nobody outside of our community that is."

answer.. "The bar is solid ti. Terry's shop machined it. There are photos on his site. (www.teamwhyachi.com). Pretty crazy, huh?"
---

<sigh> Well, I guess its nice to see what can be done with unlimited money on occasion, but I'm glad he's over there and not here. Mind you, spending money doesnt guarantee wins as we all know.. Crazy Susan never won a fight, but then again neither did Mechadon.. but its still cool regardless.

They spent all their money on the weapon end - surely the first shell spinner or under cutter will take out those barely protected wheels? Gotta love the craftmanship though...

I'll eventually get to see crazy susan, it will take a while, the information superhighway ends somewhere far from here and is replaced by a wet piece of string.

It has some nice engineering, like tongue & groove joins and the integrated rubber shock pads, but what a waste to see another shoebox with wheels, what about a little innovation, unique design flair and imagination - like Mechadon.

Particularly from a mac user, oh the shame!

Heres a link to a very nicely done article on one of the few working "Melty Brain" or "Cyclone/Tornado Drive" bots in the world.

http://www.fpgajournal.com/articles/20041012_cyclonebot.htm

These guys have really gone the high tech route, with WiFi Lan connections, accelerometers, magnetometers and significant on board processing power..

and a 1/2" thick titanium shell !!! Shocked.

Apparently Jascha Little (Builder of "The Judge") recently discovered that not even 3/4 inch thick shock mounted titanium was enough to stop the spinner on "TombStone".. makes me glad we're all the way down here in Australia and in the featherweight class.. those yankee superheavyweight guys sure play rough.. Wink

Yeha i know. Tombstone is one mean robot thats for sure.

The Cyclonebots shows what can be done with tehcnology these days and robotics. They pulled it off something firce with their melty brain system.

ALso in their match against megabite they suffered some frame damage also. Shows the power in these spinners.
