Hydraulic rules

well seeing as though ive got a few hydraulic bits on the doorstep thought i might confirm a few things.

Accumulators - in my system im using a hydraulic bladder (as a resivour i guess youd describe it as) but it also has the capability to hold a gas pre charge to act as a proper accumulator. so while the capability is there why not use it Smile

i dont know why the UK has banned accumulators anyway? (as the bladders they all use are accumulators after all the manufacturers ive chatted too). only reason i could think of was because they limit gas pressure to 1000psi when you need full hydraulic pressure in gas form to make the accumulator work.

so something simple to start off on Razz

Probably because hydraulic fluid could cut things, Think water jet.

I think that if any part is a standard unmodified hydraulic part it should be used within it's pressure rating.

i think thats a fair ruling, and that the parts should be pressure certified as well.

Problem with "pressurized" accumulators is that the system is always pressurised. (about 70 bar is common). Not handy when you need to work on the hydraulics.

Unscrew a connection, and presto, instant shower. If you get this "flash shower" in your eyes, it's to the hospital.

In your shed/livingroom/kitchen, not my problem. Not funny to hear if it is worse than soaked clothing and enviroment.

In the arena, I hope it catches fire in the progress, that's "cool"

But in the pits, it is a problem. You probably drench others too. And then it's up to the organisers insurance.
