With only some small adjustments/improvements, that event can rival the UK filming from the old series.

The main thing is that they underestimated the force of our machines. The sidewalls and kickboards need serious reinforcement to be up to spec for the EU machines. We kept back ,except the last fight.

The Russian machines are series 1-2 quality, and for those, the arena is more than strong enough. But I expect to see huge improvements if there is another Russian event.

In between fights the animation was great. Babs is uploading a few photo's and films to her photobucket as I write this.

That arena looks so good. The videos are great too, hopefully it'll grow with enough russian robots to sustain itself Very Happy

The arena and the show is great.

Team RCC agrees on the point that with some small improvemtens, this can rival the filming of the BBC/Mentorn series.

Main thing is to get the arena up to spec for spinners.
But I feel it will take the Russian roboteers a year or 3 to get there. If they opt for that way.
That depends on the budget Bronebots can make available. They did commission the build of this arena this year.
I hope the 6 shows made enough to compensate enough to make it worthwile to go for another year.

Here the pictures uploaded by Babs.

I hope the local council doesn't see all the road damage Smile. Is there a reason for making the ribs from stainless rather than Hardox?

Yes, it's standard 20*3 304 stainless strip.

Less work to make, easier to drill and tap. Welding isn't any problem.
307 rod will do the trick.

Last weekend brought us FACTS . A 45K+ visiters Comic con weekend.

Team RCC entered 3+2 machines. The 3 machines were Hannibalito3, Kashei and Perun.
The +2 are the new machines build for others. Robotus Vulgaris and the Unnamed (Hannibalito3/Brobot/Scotbot clone)

Just an overview of 4 of'm, as Unnamed was used by the new owner.

Hannibalito3 went into the fire. First fight, Full on spinner combat against the brandspankingnew monsterdrumspinner Equinox .
It was just gruesome, horrible. HDPE chips splattering around like blood from the stump of a severed limb. The flipperarm got a new shape Piccaso would drool upon.

After that fight, replacing the flipperarm with the spare, and hacking off some ripped HDPE to make it a bit safer to handle. A fast checkover didn't reveal any other damage. Unfortunatly, it was a fast checkover, and we failed to do a pressure test.

Next fight, a massive leak in the CO2 setup was detected.
With a limp flipper, only Leo's expert driving gave us the win.

Workbench, some skullsweat and a replacement Burkert and the leak was history.
After this, H3 was itself.
In the arena, fight, out the arena, replace CO2 bottle and battery, ready.

Kashei Besmertnye.
It looked so good, but after 2 fights, the axe failed. Mod 2 gears just lost teeth.
Removed the axe, and used it as a decent rammer.
Drives are fine, so it did the job.

Perun, the persistent one.
It exactly did where it was build for. Go in the arena, bulldozer the opponents into the wall. Rince and repeat.

Only wear and tear got 1 of the gearboxes of the GR02 drive. Replacement mounted and ready to rock again.

Robotus Vulgaris. A BonX/Hardwired2 clone.
The maiden trip.
Equinox again. But the armox/hardox armor held fine, some deep scratches and that was it.
Equinox's weapon sheared some bolts and needed a lot more attention.

Next fight was against Valkiri3 Pyro. And that was a nasty surprise.
The disk can cut 5mm thick armox 600, not like butter, but notheless as if a 12mm mill was punched trough it. One of the horns was ripped off and the drive-coverplate looks like it was used a doggies chew-toy.
One of the Saturn motors doesn't have magnets anymore, but adhesive powder.

This more needs more than a bit TLC and upgrades before it goes to the new owner.

I have to admit. On Saturday, I spend more time oogling the eyecandy (a few dozen nicely shaped Suicide Squad Harley Quins and other cosplaying beauties do that to a normal man) than working on the robots.

Sunday was my "drop dead" day, and I slept like a dog in a basket under a workbench.

And now, The upgrade/repair of Vulgaris.

Laughing Great event report - where are the photos of the eye candy? How did Equinox's in-drum motor hold up? I'm hoping it goes to the UK championships next year so Mr Mangle can snack on it's tasty red wheels.

Photo's of eye candy will be on Bab's photo reports. I hope i can supply a link later.

Equinox's drum needs some TLC and small improvements.
Snacking on drives/red wheels, possible, if you can get trough fairly thick and well welded (by me) titanium.

Oh, Stef and Dennis cast wheels on the event as needs arrise.

Hi

you said stripping mod 2 gears

Are they steel or aluminium?

I am guessing that you are relying on motor stall to stop the axe

Both the stripped gears are steel. But I guess Z12 makes the tooth-foot a tad small.
And we rely on Leo's hand/eye coordination to stop the axe before stalling.

Upgrade , new gears, but replacing the Z12 with Z14 and changing the big gears to accomodate the new setup.
