NSW Round 5 25/8/07

Thought I might kick the next event off while everyone is still excited from Battleshed, including me. Not quite sure if it really is round 6 with Battleshed being in there, but anyway.

I was dissappointed in myself for not getting my bot done in time, and was surprised to see quite a few other NSW people hadn't either. We'll just have to make up for it with a good local event with big numbers.

My aim will be to finish off the robot that I had half done and showed a few people at battleshed.

Also Angus, I will make a few repairs to mini tread and we can use that cool little arena that Chris knocked up again.

How's everyone else's robots going?

I plan to own this event! Twisted Evil Scissorhands is nearly finished - it just needs a full day of wiring and the front roll bar plus testing. Jolt just needs a magnet glued back in. Chuck probably won't quite be ready but since its my favourite bot, I will be trying hard. I figure to bring two at least.

Hehe it was a pretty big hit actually. My robot did pull out the thwacking bolt through the aluminium tube.

It is a concern when Nick says "I plan to own this event!", you know that he either will obliterate the competition, or self destruct his own robots spectacularly. Either way should be a good show.

Is it a big deal putting down some MDF to make things easier to drive?

I've got a few simple ideas to make the beetle weight arena better. Sure we can put some thin MDF sheets down. Then we can put it in the arena and do away with the plastic sheet and the support beam.

In regards to Caber (my featherweight) I need to find a commercial ram. Something similar to Stealth (who got his at a place in Victoria). Anyone know of a good place? Jake, where did you get the ram for Plan C I think it is?

we made it.
there is some place out near the meccano set that is like an industrial scrap yard. You might be able to pick some stuff up there perhaps if you wanted commercial?

If there is something in particular you want we could look at manufacturing it.
