Hunting for cheap drill motors
Just want to appeal to the masses for some advice on a cheap option for drills.
Ive found the cheapest are at bunnings for about $40. Is this as good as it gets?

Try searching eBay, I saw some for a bit under $30. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Kmart is the place to go, they should be $20 or so for the 12V versions. Some people have bad luck with them but they've worked for me fine! They're the same I used in the robowars youtube tute videos. _________________ ( •_•)

yep they look like they would work…best way to test is to buy one and try hacking it. Kmart has them sometimes. We bought 8 of em last year. Another option is super cheap auto for drills. We often go to browns plains tip. they usually have loads of them, and they are between $3-$5….you could try and track em down on ebay as well. _________________ Miles Blow - Julie Pitts

They are 18volt, if your on 4S and woody is fairly light atm, should do the trick.
I'm thinking about getting some for my self but mental has chewed up a few rs550's so far, and is pretty close to the weight limit at 13kg, the rs550's just don't like pushing that 13kg and the weight of another robot around imho.

Sadly shes not so light anymore... Ive added plenty of steel bracing but hopefully those motors will still do!

Hey miles do you have a link for the famous XU-1 from Bunnings. My search query - Cordless Drills - only turned up these http://www.bunnings.com.au/search/products?q=cordless%20drills&sort=4 ...the cheapest drill on that list is an Ozito's @ $39.00 of which I used on breadboard, the gearbox is unfortunately not that good, from a mounting perspective.

here is proof that they have them even though they don't mention them on the bunnings website _________________ Miles Blow - Julie Pitts

Unfortunately they have changed the gearbox lol these are exactly the same as the Ozito's internals and if you go to the xu1 site http://www.xuone.com.au/contact-us right at the bottom of the "contact us" page it has "I would like to receive marketing information and special offers from Ozito." so maybe they make them now, if they did not in the past it looks like they do now.
anyway I feel like a right idiot as I'll be keeping one and returning the other 4...

all back together now as far as keeping spares goes, I'd rather get my $$ back / Supercheap have a Rockwell 18v drill for 48 bucks that may have the box I'm looking for in it? but $50.00 is not "cheap" when it comes to drills that may last only a few minutes worst case.... looking for a all in one replacement motor and box that i can wire xt60's to so everything is ready to go. plug and play
