So this is now officially the most far in advance of an event my bot has been ready, and also the longest after completion one of my bots has gone without damage.
Anyway to finish off the build report.
The extra friction was the bearings not the rubber ring.
The issue is the ring is too big to fit on anything in the lathe, this is the answer, reverse jaws on the 3 jaw chuck then on the outside of the teeth (the bit you aren't meant to use) grab the ring there, set the lathe to super duper slow and use a block of wood against the toolpost to get the ring close to true. (I took the weapon teeth off, but the holes where they key into the shaft to a dandy job of taking shavings off the wood block) then using a small hand file take off just a whisker, repeat 4x until the ring runs easily on the bearings.
After screwing around for the entire damn day its all together and running right.
I need to replace the fingertechs though or tune the radio better perhaps, they just don't seem to want to work evenly for drive.
See its all ready to go, even has a charged battery in it, just turn the screw and go. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets
