a 100W scooter motor would probably be pretty good.

Otherwise the 9700rpm big Jaycar motors could work, but they have a short shaft with no easy way of retaining things to.

The Jaycar motor sounds interesting - how long would you say the shaft is? I don't think two scooter motors would be so good; they are much wider (= higher weapon & wider friction drive wheel) and with a 24V pack to run them, the weight will be high. I just had another motor idea but its too evil & twisted to type Twisted Evil I might just have to start some CAD on it...

Nah, they are both expensive, high RPM motors; I am looking at a cheaper motor running at 6,000 rpm or less for a total weapon cost under $250 (unless roller bearings cost more than I think). I might use the frame construction ideas from Subliminal though, If the CAD works out at all, this will be a much lower spinner than Jolt, or the idea might work as an undercutter.

Hey dytrodium nice design What CAD program did u use? But i think u should probably see fi u can tuck the wheels in inside the armor so they're covered just in case the weapon stalls or something and some1 comes up with anothe hack weapon and takes em off if u get wot i mean. Wow u guys sure no how to hijack a foruma and help me at the same time. U have given me so many ideas i can't count them! so thanx 4 that. Na di'll be sure to check out those wheels with this weeks pocket money if i get enough. Iprobably will and i'll get cadding my new ideas. But 1 question. I can't get my cad images into veiwable types. But then again im using emachine shop. Is there anything better or that would help?

Yeah, Angus, you gotta put the wheels inside the body, like this Laughing

Mmm, I got bored and decided to add some chain...

Oh, and the prices for those rims in the design are only $35 each Wink

I used rhino 3D, you can download the demo, but it has a limited number of saves. Although personaly i think all these designs are too complex for a first robot... Confused

I use Rhino 3d Version 2.0 with some personal modifications. I've been using it for ~3 years.

I draw lots of parts for when I want to design a robot. Usually within 1-2 hours I can have a full design worked out and weight calculated withing 100g...
