Nice test video, looks a very well built machine.

any tips for driving with the gyroscopic effects?
Yeah, embrace it and have fun with it
Sure it can lead to a bit of unpredictability in terms of its performance, but the audience will love it. _________________ Jamie

Yep it's part of the fun, as a spinner operator you have to take the good (deadly blade) with the bad (gyro) to help give the poor noobs with lesser weapons a chance _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Original xbox dvd cases are made of Polypropylene and can be laser cut.
now I have a flexible top cover that is lightweight and somewhat strong.
all for the cost of free.

so the mount for the motor is not strong enough... it flexes causing the blade to hit the top of the bot... I am going to print a new frame. I also think I am going to remove the wedge. it doesn't seem to be able to get under much stuff... I might make a mini wedge like an L bracket for the front.

Since it is 4WD, your going to need a hinged wedge to allow the wedge to follow the surface of the floor and get under your opponents. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

yea I have been driving it around the shop and the wedge seems pretty useless... I think I am just gonna remove the wedge and add armor...

Just got back from my first compatition. I am in the process of posting pictures and videos.
I went 3W:2L
and placed 3rd
Match #5 (I could have won this one by simply sitting there but that would have been boring for the crowd and me... so I tried to put him in the pit and had a stupid fingers moment)

Nice work! All the design and testing paid off. Even though you lost the weapon, by having a reliable drive train you still did awesome. That blade looks like it'll pack a punch in future with the falling off issue fixed, so the design will only improve! _________________ ( •_•)

Yea I am very happy with how well I did. Loosing the blade for the first two matches probably helped me as I had to concentrate on driving. Overall the bot is destroyed but I can save everything except one of the drive motors and maybe the weapon motor (the blade got hit hard and it came off and took the bell with it... the shaft stayed with the bottom half... it still spins though after I reassembled... not sure how well it will hold up.)

Looks like a pretty good first outing. The bot did pretty well and I imagine you've learned quite a bit about competing and found areas you want to tweak in your own design to do even better next time around.
