with the little refills it would be pretty easy to make a housing
similar to that use on Soda Syphons. as for making your own
tanks I would like to stay away from that, but again willing to look at
designs for possible approval and pass leak tests. my main concern for making your own tanks is not just design but the build quality of the final product.

I was a little worried that they might be a bit small but 2 would probably do the job.

Cheaper by the ~ dozen.

Just pressing them into a suitable O ringed socate and spring loading them to activates their built in valve.

The small size can be an advantage as they need to be vertical or at least not too horizontal to get the liquid withdrawal.

Sort of but the important question is how to beat Flips. Something that seems impossible at the moment.
The Poms do it by building an even more powerful flipper.

Possibility, Glen's crusher is an attempt to beat his previous creation.

As a regular featherweight a horizontal spinner can rip the flipper arm
of but the sportsman rules preclude that attack.

Have to watch all the Flips vids

I built it, took it there and drove it, my robot, mine! haha.

But yeah i think he has a good chance against most robots when it can actually drive/ (curse you xxl controller!) We'll retrofit him with a pneumatic crusher and have another go hopefully Smile

Can bots who only turn up to this event qualify for eliminations, or is it also based on past events?

I am hoping to build my first combat robot( I've got heaps of experience building other robots) to compete at Gladstone. I've done CAD designs for 3 different bot ideas, just deciding which one as I won't have the time( or $) to build all three. It's probably going to be lifter/flinger type robot focusing on reliability of the drive more than anything.

When I get closer to the final design and start building, I'll probably need to borrow( or buy) a Victor 885 off someone as I am planning to be running a 12V DC motor at 24V(I completely understand the potential risks) for the pivot motor and it will draw about 300amps when at stall. I probably can't afford a Victor BB and a A28-150 to do the same job.

Just a question, is there accomodation available nearish to the potential venue(s) as I won't be able to hire a car etc( I'm 17 year old P-plater).

awesome news, there isnt really any accommodation around where the event will be unfortunately, the event will be in a wearhouse in one of the many industrial estate in town. most/all the accommodation is in the city. having said that Gladstone isnt overally massive. Im thinking there will be plently of builders with some form of transport that will be happy to give a lift, myself included.
