Determining Weapon RPM - (400rpm)

I have been thinking a bit about how to safely and relatively accurately determine weapon RPMs. Now I have a few tachs about integrated into my data loggers however most people done.

What most people do have is a smartphone most are capable of 60fps, 120fps or even 240fps (iPhone 6) video. I just tested it on my iPhone 6 and 240fps is plenty fast enough to catch the 6.67 rev/second of 400rpm. That is 36 full frames for one revolution.

I hopefully will get a chance to do up video tutorial tonight but it means if I need to test and 400rpm sportsman bots I will just throw them in the arena spin em up and take a short video.

Strobily Free for smartphones. I use it at work for timing rotating machinery. It has strobe and tacho modes which both can be used to see whether a spinning weapon exceeds an RPM threshold, can measure the speed of a weapon for tweaking it to the correct speed.

Also if you re using a slow-motion camera or phone to check rpm ..you can set up a regular wall clock next to it to check how many rpmā€¦there is a bit of counting involved.

about to try that app kato. Very Happy
