Wouldn't mind having a good local water jet place if the prices are reasonable.

The set-up charge was $25 and the cutting was $370. I don't have anything compare that to, but their titanium cutting quotes seem about average.

For two beaters of that thickness, $370 doesn't seem to bad.

I have a very low opinion of couriers; I have seen them drop far too many computers to trust them even with non-fragile items!

Progress:

Jake & Russell are hard at work on the Bisalloy beater for Mr Mangle and this just arrived for Shiny:

It doesn't look too out of place sitting in Jolt's frame, I wonder how it would go hitting lightweights?

Even more progress:

Russell and Jake have turned BOTH the new Bisalloy 500 beaters for Mr Mangle already:

Thanks heaps guys, looks like I will be able to turn the RPM up on both bots now! Very Happy

No way! Jake's beater is only for Mr Mangle and the Hardox 500 beater you organised is the first choice for Shiny. With all these options, I feel confident about turning the power up to the point where the bots can do some real damage.

many carbide inserts
we went through 4 tips doing that though 3 of them were a bit crap to start (they are fully crap now, like wow almost pencil round).
Most of the damage came from doing those massive interrupted cuts on the sides.
We also used a cobalt steel round in the diamond tool holder, and that did actually work, though it needed to be reground a bunch of times and it'd lose its edge pretty much as soon as it touched the work, doing an interrupted cut with it killed it pretty much instantly.

@nick they are all at ~20.1mm for you to grind to size.
