At the end of the day, they are both still TZ85A's, so just load the public code Smile

If time is short but you still have some funds in the coffer, talk to Ellis @ Ranglebox (Our UK Reseller) who has 85A's in stock. I believe can ship across Europe in a 2-3 days.

As for the exhibited behavior, I believe Steve spent some time improving the PWM code. This is why the BotBitz ones start off slower and have smoother control compared to the public code which is rougher.

Thought so, but just wanted to make sure. Thanks Aaron!

It was actually Ellis who supplied the BB one the other day as one of my unhacked ones started to smoke/flame before I'd even got it programmed. Can't plug it into a power source without it starting to smoke/flame again.

Aside from the mismatch, the smoother control did seem quite nice. I used hacked 85s last year after years of using an XL and I missed the finer control element. I'll maybe tweak my transmitter settings for this year's event but will probably grab a pair of BB 85s post-champs. The smoother low-range control could make the difference between skilfully driving around the pit or diving head first into it Razz

Yeh there was quite a lot of improvement in that area in particular. If you grab a programming box you can configure all the settings as well to further improve the control you get or tweak it to your liking.

mm, if low speed control is improved that much, we'll have to try those.

Yours are still held aside from listed stock ready to go Mario!

Jamie: I won't have enough programming boxes in stock for the champs but I will have my own with me, so we could have a look at the v2 ESC and see if we can't extend the top end a little. Not sure what the default settings are.

Defaults are 1-2ms but that could vary 1-2% due to internal oscillator calibration. On v2 it should be max until 0.8 and 2.2ms then it will cut off.

Would have to double check the max_out/buffer functionality though as it has been ages since I looked at it.

Hi,

I made the mistake of not bench testing escs before shoving them in robot. One 30a esc seems to only go one direction? No reverse at all. One of the escs is totally fine. I've isolated that esc to be the problem.

Is there any way of fixing this quickly or is it a lost cause?

Ta, Harry.

Sounds like a DOA ESC which slipped through testing. Send us an email sales@ botbitz dot com and we will get it replaced.

Ah so its duff then? That buggers things a bit. I'll buy more from Ellis. Its one of the older types, clear heatshrink and a different board i think so it's probably not worth replacing.

Thanks though Smile

Yeh. That may had died after testing. They have great current handling ability but we found that a lot of them after the first batch were hit and miss. Hobbyking dropped the ball a bit as it was one of their first in house ESCs. Shame cus you could push 50As with them if you were adventurous.

New ones are "40A" escs to give same performance. Really mini 85As.

Hey Stevo and Aaron, any idea when the TZ85's will be in stock? if it will not be in the next two weeks may need to try and fit an IBC in a bot for the first time in years.

Just spit balling an idea here.

As in previous posts, we have been testing out some sample gear motors from the PRC. The gearboxes look like they should be suitable for combat, but the drop in AUD$ and the cost of shipping has made these a rather expensive project. However, HobbyKing now have a 55T 540 sized brushed motor with decent replaceable brushes, proper tension springs and has a Kv rating that should handle ~18v. I'm currently going to talk to the supplier about providing us with a 27:1 gearbox (or 20:1) that will support this motor. We should be able to get the gearbox cheaper as it will not come without the 400+g RS775 motor which drives up shipping costs (doubles the weight.).

Now, is there a genuine interest out there for a drive solution which handles 12 - 18v, beefy 1/2" output shafts with 1/8" keyways and easy M5 mounting points?

We want two now Very Happy …so sick of damn drills. Sad Its not that drills arent powerful, its the shit fiddly way of mounting them....i think they would sell.
ps good spotting on those hk motors they look so much sexier than the drill 550 motors. Would be good to have the option to chuck a 775 on the back aswell?
