That looks like the back of it. It was in a gaming computer.

Looks like it might be ddr3.

hi Gang….well last weekend found a $15 acer at the second handy which works a treat as the up pc out in he shed…

so thought if i come across another at the tip shop today i will grab it….

so plugged it in and it powers up but then turns off then back on again continuously….its not the power supply(same thing happens on a good one)
not the ram….i reseated the processor and heatsink so it aint that either….maybe its just dead….i should be able to use the power supply so not a total loss…

you guys got any suggestions?

here is a vid of what its doing.

It *sounds like its a hard drive trying to spin up and failing, possibly overloading the power supply.

But, it looks like you have that IDE drive data and power cables disconnected, presumably leaving just the power to the motherboard ?

So, what is making the whistling noise and the ticky "hard drive stepping" sound at about the 10sec mark ?

Is there anything else other than the mobo running off the PowerSupply ?

IIRC one continuous long beep is usually ram.

Its either, RAM, CPU or dead motherboard. Looking like the last one from that.

Could at least salvage the ram and put it in the other one.

Yep nothing is really pluged into the motherboard i dont think it likes the ram either but ram wouldnt make the power continually turn on and off? Im thinking it could be the on switch on the front of the box- that could be telling the computer to go on then off

It could be a held power switch but it could also be it try's to turn on fails reboots and try's again. Which is why the power appears to turn off
