The gearbox is a 42mm dia, 45mm long. The shaft is 10mm diameter and should be 50mm - 75mm long (they farked up my order..... Sorting that out now). This is apart of the FW drive train package for the BotBitz FW Kitbot I have in development.

The beetle motors are similar to the good ole 1000RPM ebay motors, however they only 38mm long (nearly 1/3 shorter) and rated for 900RPM. While not as cost effective as the eBay motors, I believe we can retail these for somewhere around $8ea.

That sounds excellent; a complete drivetrain kit should encourage new builders to get started.

I'm 'hoping' that I can offer them in several options too.

Cheap Brushed - Regular china spec RS550 or RS775
Premium Brushed - Dewalt 12/14/18v motor
Brushless - NTM 35 or 42 series motor
Premium Brushless - 30 or 40 series Scorpion motor.

That should cover everyone from the penny saving student to the experienced veteran.

We are currently working with a manufacturer to produce wheels for BotBitz. The below photo is a sample of the wheels, they are 75mm x 25mm (3"x1"), 100mm x 25mm (4"x1") in size and will have a 50A compound tread (In custom BotBitz RED!).

We can source these wheels at an affordable price in bulk lots of 500 which we are prepared to do to be able to sell them for <$5 each. However we are required to spend US$550 to get a mould change to each wheel design to have a 19mm (3/4") hex bore added to these wheels to make them work with the upcoming BotBitz Hubz & 42MM Gearmotors.

As the mould cost is a touch expensive, we are wondering what size people would prefer the most, so we can proceed with the most popular size first, then roll the next size out once we have recouped some funds Smile

US$550 doesn't sound too bad for what would need to be done to the mold.
I'd say do the 100mm wheels to replace all the red wheels out there.

I initially thought the same, but there is bugger all people running red wheels these days. They are either using colsons, banebots or custom wheels.

For a good reason - the red wheels had crappy grip! It saved many drill motors from breaking but they were always the cheap 'n cheerful option. I suggest something close to the Banebots 3 - 7/8" wheel, maybe around 95mm for compatibility.

Does your supplier do gearboxes suited to 4.8 kW motors at ~ 30:1?

Gearboxes are spec'd towards torque rates (that's what breaks them) more then KW. So I honestly couldn't answer that. This supplier does mainly 45mm class gearboxes and smaller, so without knowledge of your application, intended motors etc etc, I can't really say if they have anything suitable for you.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__25409__Turnigy_TrackStar_1_5th_Sensorless_Brushless_Motor_760KV.html There is no quoted torque figure. Thanks anyway.

Ahoy, have you had any reports yet of people running the 18v dewalts in high gear off the tz85s?

Sitting on the fence of maybe giving it a go vs buying ragebridge.

I've run Farmboy/ABR with Dewalts in Low/Med/High without issues. Mainly stick to Med since it's too fast to try to drive in high when in a 5m square arena. Ragebridge will certainly handle it with the 90A current limits, just remember you need fans, a case, 2 lots of power leads and a fair bit more space to fit it compared to 85A's.

That's true, but whether the 85s will handle it period is the unknown. Wonder how the new styles compare to the old style for current. Might give it a go on demons tz's anyway Cool

Don't know whether it is relevant to you but I briefly ran my drill motor feather on drill motors at 25V. And at 25V the ESC's were more than happy to drive around a duct taped together wheelchair setup (For a heavyweight) with a feather and me on top for a good hour solidly before the battery ran out with no faults.

I've run a S900 axe of of TZ85's aswell.
