What is the motivation for the bigger robots? I assume a better spectacle for the audience.
50 kg would be easier to transport than 100 kg.
Is a 100 - 200 A ESC on the cards for BotBitz? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

This is one other reason I wanted to see MW/HW's stick to simple motors like scooter or wheel chair motors where they have low amperage draw and most people could recycle some of their FW hardware.
BotBitz sorta has a potential 8S 200A controller on the cards, but it requires Steve to do a lot of work and he's currently a bit busy for that _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

The FRA doesn't have that many 50 kg robots compared to the 100 kg. Is the US the same? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

If I know 2 middleweights over here, I would be surprised.
I'm not really following the US competition, to many 1 hit wonders to get my fancy.

Why not allow people to make whatever floats their boat? If you make a heavy, be prepared to fight two middles as a clusterbot. If you make a middle, be prepared to take some big hits. Also, allow middles to fight each other one-on-one, as can heavies.

@ Philip: That recent USATL event had 17 MW bots registered VS only 7 HW bots. Looking back thru recent events on the BuildersDB site, most of them are only going up to 15 lbs, even 30 lbs events are getting rare in the US. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Steve, have you thought any more about a high current ESC? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

If you did convert the above controller, would it run winch motors? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Now i know whatll happen when i radio control these wheelchair bases sitting out the front. If current job goes good should be able to get a fair few of these every now and then. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

I was surprised of the speed it got. I always remember from Robot Wars the robots with wheelchair motors were slow. But that had decent speed with featherweight batteries and TZ-85's.

It might be a little slower once you dump 100kg on it and the motors and batteries are both working harder. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/
