I got the Green Ants Nest today and I will pick up the ant arena this afternoon, minus it's roof because it doesn't fit in my brother's car.

I got the ant arena plus the roof, so it's all good.
The Marburg show website doesn't mention when the gates open but the first baby competition starts at 9am, so I'll be turning up at 8am to set up. I'll PM my phone number to anyone who says they are coming to I can give you a gate pass.

Due to family visiting and having very low funds, I'm unable to attend.
Was looking forward to this event as I was looking to testing out a new kitbot I've been working on Sad

So just me and Philip? I better load Battlebots onto my computer to keep the crowds interested.

9 out of 12 of these Greens Ants have dead batteries. So far 2 have been resurrected.

Sweet, you've already got my number. Can we get a static featherweight or 2? Maybe Aussi Battler too?

4 Green Ants resurrected. I think I'm having fun doing this.

Well that was a fun day. The enthusiasm of the young drivers was infectious.

There was a continual stream of young people waiting patiently to have their turn. It was amazing to see and hear the Marburg youth being so polite and respectful to each other.

The Ant Nest took a continual battering all day. They were driven and recharged all day. The Green Ant kit proved extremely reliable under prolonged hard driving.

We could have done with some BotBitz promotional material and the forum address on display.

All in all a worthwhile event.

Well good to hear it was a fun event.

Do any of the green ants need maintenance other than new batteries?

One servo horn was worn and needs replacing. The weapon button on the red controller is faulty. There was an issue with the chargers not turning on. Other than that, they are good to go.

Chargers you just unplug and replug the xt60. Servo horn is to be expected. I would say the button is a loose wire in the box from arduino or switch from being shipped like 5 times now.

Oh, what at day. I was buggered when I got home and when I woke up yesterday I found myself when a cold, so I'm only awake today.

The red controller's button is broken, not just a loose wire. The button gets jammed and won't spring back.
I'm just recharging the ants now to see how the batteries look. A few batteries seem to charge up to 4.2V per cell but then one cell will drop down to 4V and will probably run completely down if left on a shelf for a few months. They still run fine once recharged. I'll marked the dodgy batteries with tape.
One ant has the tip of a selfrighting horn chipped off and another has a chip in the front corner of the flipper, but that's the worst damage from 6 hours of fighting.
Next time we should mount all the controllers to a board so the cords don't get tangled.

Daniel: Let me know when it's suitable and I'll send you some funds to ship the Nest to me.
Steve: Want me to order a stack of batteries for them?

Actually there's only 3 batteries that are acting funning and 1 that's completely dead. I put tape on the front of the effected bots.
Any time is suitable.

They probably all need to be replaced. As they haven't exactly been cared for. Will need to order new. Button too.
