IIRC, there was 15-16 ants at the Nationals.
Beetleweights there are probably only 8-10 in the whole country, with most residing in Sydney. How many show up, not many Razz

Lol
I'd love to start building one because I look at them as a heavy weight ant and with ants it's hard to stay under 150g if you want them to look cool and be very strong, however with beetles there's so much more room to play with engineering and using stronger materials. I do wish they fight them in a custom built large beetle tank and not putting them in the featherweight tank.

You will say this about every weight class until you actually build one within the weight limit Razz

And getting an antweight under 150g is so easy, it's childs play Cool

This reminds me of the fat feather class back in the day. But then we were all using SLAs which was a little different.

We do have a purpose built beetle arena in nsw. But it's a lot of work to set up when you can just use a feather arena with some barriers. Which adds another dimension to it as you can be thrown out of the arena. Since I have a drum bot, I can say that I prefer that to a pit, haha

If your buying radio gear that still uses crystals (AM/FM), your buying stuff that is way too old (and not very safe) to be using for robots.
For $30 you can get the brand new Hobby King 2.4Ghz radio and receiver, which plenty of people use in antweights.

You can then get it shipped anywhere in Australia for $14 Smile

Why is it not safe ?
I went to the site and had a look but I needed a receiver with the plugs on the side.
Is there anyone who could help me with am/fm receivers ?

I'm using hacked mini servos for motors so I'm not sure now where to put the neg and pos from the servo to the receiver and the same deal with the battery lol

Generally the negative wire on the servo plug (usually black or brown) goes on the outside column of pins

FM Radios are not a good idea. And were the main reason robots just used to sit still in the past.

2.4Ghz provides a massive difference in the connection robustness, pretty much eliminates any stray noise and your robot still works when you put it in the arena. As far as safety goes the ESCs should take care of that to some extent but it is possible to get noise and stray signals.

$30 + p/h is worth your sanity, nobody uses FM anymore for good reason.
