I guess that my question is...are the motors on the ebay ones going to hold up?

I just drove a 3 lbs. horizontal that I built and it drove fine, so far....

thanks for the info

They will be OK if you can get the good ones. The problem is you never know if you are getting the good ones until you get them and even if you get the good ones once. Buying form the same seller doesn't guarantee that you will get them again.

someone local to me found the manufacturer of the old banebots 36mm boxes...they ordered all steel gears and rings as well as complete boxes, so I need to work on finding sources for the 1000 rpm spur gear boxes, of perhaps the old banrbots 24mm ones....hmmm

thanks for the info

I've found a minimum of 10 manufacturer that make those 1000rpm spur gearmotors, and every single one of them has different motors to what we desire.

I started looking, but I think that I'll try to find a true planetary box, similar to the old bb 24mm jobs, but in a round case and hopefully decent motors.

Also, the 1000 rpm motors have around a 13.5 to 1 ratio, and I would prefer 16 to 20

I found one company who's products look good (lol) we'll see what gives

thanks

I sourced some nice 28mm gear motors with RS370 motors. All metal gears, full ball bearing output with a 6mm shaft. Just a tad heavy at near 120g ea

I have a source for much better motors and inexpensive. If anyone could help, all I really need is the gearboxes... If necessary, I'll just discard the motors.

I changed out the motors in my horzontal project and now have 10 times the torque and 30 mph top speed on 2 3/8" wheels...it's very quick

I want to try and build an overhead axe weopon on a beetleweight.

The main thing stumping me is how to swing it tho.

Idea i had was to use 2 0000 rpm gearmotors or a slightly smaller ratio setup from a store on amazon but main issue is how to drive it.

Timing belts/pulleys would be ideal but getting the parts required is fiddly

Was thinking maybe chain drive but yeah

wanted to see what peoples thoughts are.

For overhead hammer. Maybe a mini planetary motor with a little brushless on it.

1000rpms are the only thing about still, banebots escs suck don't use them and any foam rc wheel will do. I got the genuine liteflites cheap on ebay which are much much better - but as a school thing whichever!
