That is the AVR board I was trying to remember, that Teensy 3 packs a big punch in a tiny board! The HK servo tester is already on the way, for $4.49 its virtually plug & play and worth trying. If it doesn't work out, then a custom MCU is in order.

I don't know how useful temperature control would really be; even with the fan on full, everything gets hot. It might be nice to have an over-temp LED though.

You could perhaps have it monitor the weapon and wait till its activated for more than say 5 seconds before turning the fan on. So its not sucking battery while you wait for Andrew to duct tape his robot together ;-P

this is the one that I use btw
http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/boards/USB_Breakout/USB_Breakout_index.php

Its nice.

If you felt really super keen you could have it log the temperature every N seconds after the first spinup (in ram) and dump it out over usb after the match.

Random tip.

If anyone loses the metal screws out of servos. The ones from the TZ85a switches are M2 screws and fit perfectly. May pull them out of the switches before throwing away my next batch.

Been a while Very Happy

Those 2.4ghz wireless cameras, Do they focus well on objects like 1 foot away? Looking at fitting one in the end of a large tube to view inside it like 30cm id tube about 3 feet long. Sooo many on the market.

About acetone vapor treatment for 3D prints.
Does it really make the products harder, or just smoother? Youtube clips say they get soft & spongy.

It doesn't make the abs plastic 'harder' but it makes it 'stronger' by bonding the outside layers together into a tough skin. This skin is sticky to touch for about 20min then hardens gradually back to normal over a day or so. Smile

Did it mahself

Steve/Aaron, you're welcome to this for the BotBitz site or CAD repository if you want, it should be spot on dimensionally. Drawn in Rhino 4 but you can convert it to whatever. PM me an email address

Comes with right angle and straight wire stubs, you can delete one, the other, or both when you import it

Flick a copy through to sales @ botbitz dot com

Send through rhino, iges and solidworks files if possible.
We'll put them on the site and credit you for the model.

Yep, ok, well I cant do Solidworks but you can have .3dm Rhino, .dxf and .igs, and if you cant import one of those into Solidworks then Solidworks is less solid than the name implies Smile

email sent

Greetings all

Looking at my possibility of sportsman builds i need to look into chain and sprockets

One design is a hammer system using a 250 watt geared motor which i think has a 1/2 inch pitch chain

Other is a vertical spinner geared using this random motor i have which also has a larger 1/2 inch pitch sprocket mounted to it

Question is as i know nothing about chain and sprocket setups is where is the best places to buy them from people have found

Whats involved with buying a length of chain and connecting it up yourself? I understand you use a master link as the connecting piece to complete a loop

Thanks for any assistance.

All you really need is chain 'breaker' that is used to push out the pins that hold links together.

Once you use that tool to get the chain to the right length, you can join it back up with a push-in master link. You can also get half links to fine-tune the chain length.

If you are careful, you can use the chain breaker to push the link pins back in, but I wouldn't count on it working every time
