I was gently on the throttle, I had rebalanced the disk , and wasn't sure it was good enough.

how much was the plastic?
I have often thought it would be an ideal chassis material for beetles. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

The armor is about 2.2 kg.
And yes, 5mm HDPE is used succesfully in monocoques in the Raptor class. (not for a flipper tough)

I pay €5 per kilo HDPE, but that's in leftovers and offcuts in sheet.
Sometimes less, sometimes a tad more. It depends.
Real enginering stuff like rod and block is tad more expensive. But still, very affordable compared to other stuff.
Alas. I'm far far away...

Saturday 15 december. One event in Vilvoorde, the hometown of Babeth and me. The shop were I buy most of my handtools had asked the DRG to set the feather arena up, and have a days full of robot combat.
With a nice list of participants, we had 13 feathers, 5 raptors and 4 ants at hand, and with Tough As Nails to demo the destructive force of a heavy we had a day filling event.
But , a day in a shop filled with tools and stuff, having fun with robots, npbody will hear me complain.

Very nice work as usual Mario. What is the plan for mounting them into the robot though? Does the end of the motor can get clamped into a mount? Or does the 5mm aluminium front plate get bolted onto the robot's chassis somewhere? _________________ Jamie
