Pfft! Mere toys! Step up to the Trogdor Burningator 2000 Shocked

Granted, its not small or light, but it has a proper cut-off valve and the 2nd largest heating burner sold by BOC. The flow rate is limited by the gas tank and I found that adding a small buffer tank before the solenoid produces a huge belch of flame when you light it up Smile.

That particular tank is 100mm; the regular tank is only 73mm diameter

Right, Frame is now square-ish enough to be functional if only till the next time it hits something Razz But it's good enough for now.

I won't go into the gory details but getting it straight involved forcing the weapon arms apart with a little jig and hammering a sliver of 3mm steel between the weapon arm and rear panel. All good now!

Here it is, looks a bit sorry with all the crustiness but she'll look good all painted up Smile Not much to do now, just waiting for the weapon motor really, will do all the little spacers and other fiddly bits while i wait.

Haha well, as symmetrical as possible considering Razz

Onward we go, Weapon pulley is done. Here's the taperlock bush that goes in it. Funky little item i bought ages ago and used once but its pretty much an alternate trantorque. Doing up the 3 bolts clamps the two tapered pieces together clamping them to the shaft + pulley. Hopefully it does a good job.

Next is affixing the pulley to the hub. Just a tapped grubscrew between the two bits will do it.

And... Bugger 8( lol.

An easy fix anyway with some JB weld to fill the hole with, Just means i'll have to try something else! A normal bolt with a recess milled in for the head seems to work a-okay. So that's one disaster averted lol.

Brothers in arms Razz

Haha nicely saved there! Looking great Smile Weapon pulley should be a winner. That's certainly where all the fail happened in my shockingly bodgy nationals spec build Razz

Gawd, look at those two, what have we done?!

Such a slacker of a day, but! it was spent productively. A new toy for the workshop :3

It's a 40w laser cutter for acryllic and wood. Super handy for other stuff i've always wanted to do but for robots, doing mock ants and beetle frames + making accurate drill templates and the like should be very possible. Looking foward to fixing it up and using the hell out of it lol.

Only slight problems such as the 25,000v connection arcing to the chassis have to be fixed. Oh dear! XD

Totally, the build of the frame is really crazy good for the price + being a bottom of the range chinese piece. Should get it fixed up just sweet after the robot event ready for some cutting Very Happy

If you can get it to cut thin ali/stainless, you'll always have paying jobs from people wanting PCB solder paste masks cut out.

lol no chance it can do anything but engrave the anodizing off aluminium unfortunately Razz You need at least 100w+ to even come close to doing metal. no way you could pack the tube in the case (plus a 100w tube would be over $1000, out of my price range Sad )

But one day a diy jobby in that range might come along. who knows XD
