OHGOD HELP

Okay, well i was working on some machined parts for people, till i realised a big black something in the corner of my eye in a web that had been there for a week. I thought it was just a regular spider we have here and i like to leave em so they catch all the annoying bugs.

Well turns out i think it was a funnel webs web and now there are about 10 of the things about the place O_O BIG ONES!

In a fit of girlish panic i unloaded an entire can of spray onto all of them and they fell off and spun around like spastics. Spraying round my window frames made about 10 others come out too. I managed to crush some of the little ones when they fell to the ground, but reading up on it apparnetly spray doesnt kill them and squashing big ones will make babies run everywhere.

I swear i've never seen one in my life until now when they've all popped up. WTF!

HOW DO I KILL THESE SUPER UNKILLABLE FREAKS?! Crying or Very sad

I use Baygon 'Outdoor and Spider' spray to keep the workshop arachnid free. Some spiders take a second squirt but its been effective on everything so far. That story about funnelwebs being immune to spray is probably due to idiots using fly spray, which was never meant for spiders.

Yep and yep, i think its a funnel web tho cause it has the two prongs on its butt which is a telltale sign, although one of the spiders in the mass of corpses was a hunstman in a web, whats up with that?

Ill go grab some of that outdoor stuff tommorow then, although, fingers crossed all the ones I've sprayed now seem quite deceased Razz

That whole thing about squashing them and spreading baby spiders is BS as well; as far as I know, both funnelwebs and black house spiders lay egg sacs and the babies just hatch and walk about by themselves. I once found a spider carrying its young about and it was pretty obvious.

Yeah so it would seem, this one didn't have any babies within. I guess you could call that myth, 'busted' ;D

Cheers for the help all Smile
