Get your bot in a rock filmclip! - Now in Melbourne

Brett (Spockie) put me in touch with a film clip producer who wants to use at least 3 robots in a new film clip for Regurgitator - pretty exciting stuff!

The filming needs to take place next Saturday or possibly Sunday and will be less destructive and more showy than we usually do. I'm thinking it will be somewhat like the neighbours shoot, but rougher and grungier, in keeping with Regurgitator's rock image.

As usual, its all being done on a low budget but we can claim some reasonable expenses for repairs and the like, so nobody will be out of pocket and the street cred will be immeasureable.

I am getting Basilisk tuned up and we need anyone/everyone who can make it to express their interest. Matt , the producer, is aware of this forum and will hopefully be answering queries.

One other thing - Matt wanted to know if anyone had a bot that could be pyrotechnically blown up - I indicated that might be difficult on safety and cost grounds, but if anyone has an older bot that could be driven, then stripped and basically melted down, you would at least make your money back.

!!??!!?!?!?!?!?

hmm not sure about the melting down part, maybe we could find another bin like on violater and paint it the same, then drive violater round and melt down the other bin?? or if were going to make back the money i reckon we could piece together a sh*tbot from cardboard or something...

cobra can be done up absolutely no sweat at all, it just needs the back rebolted on and its fine to go. i can bolt the hammer head back on if you require it to be torn off again lol.

where abouts is it anywhos, i thought the gurge was in melbourne now (the whole band in the bubble thing)? if its around here well you can assume my answer will be ill be there to have a look around if nothing else.

btw the drop = the w00t

we may be able to do something
though dunno if we want to get plan-b messed up before we head down to melb.

whats the "theme" of it all?
whats are they hoping to get from it?

dont think they intend on having the bots annihilate each other to rubble, i didnt think nick would be throwing basilisk in if they did want that Very Happy

but yes if the bots are going to be wiped out that might be a little concern, but im not to worried about that happening with the little miracle of steel Razz

Matt will hopefully give us some more details, but the "theme" is that Quan, Ben and martin will be inside a bot (digitally) and will be fighting each other. each bot would get a cockpit applied digitally which means some blue paint is applied somewhere on the frame. Perhaps a jeff J could work some magic here?

I would guess there will be quite a bit of close-up work with the bots being manually pushed around and any damage would be to cosmetic bits that we could recoup. I am thinking about rebuilding the original Basilisk with a saw blade on the EV motor - showy but not much damage.

Yes, I asked if Matt had seen the videos from the last event and apparently he also knows about Robowars and some other crazy stuff that Brett used to do. Rather than paint your bots directly, I would think aout applying contact plastic and painting over that - weight is not limited in this case.

I am trusting that we will get a bit of art direction soon - its probably not going to involve much and I would be thinking about cosmetic bits being stuck on with double-sided tape, ready to be destroyed without damaging the bot underneath

i'm half tempted to offer building a "dodgybot" TM for it if they spring for parts and perhaps some time.

no active weps presumablly (or some grinders or something equally showy)
presumablly nifty looking.

possibly a future ref bot lol.

I am also up for it, while I have pulled robort apart for rebuilding I am on holidays atm and can build up another robot with the parts I have very quickly. I have all the motors and controls from robot sitting there waiting Smile Also happy to build something that gets blown up and destroyed completely hehe. Nick or Matt, any idea of any specific look wanted from a robot? But yeah I have lots of free time and I am up for it all Smile
