make sure whatever you get has physical buttons
capacitance sense buttons suck

on that note LG's suck.

The LED backlit displays seem to work fairly well.

I have a pair of 24" benq's on my desktop.

I buy mostly whatever is cheap for my clients, and i haven't really noticed much of a difference between brands, there is a bit of a difference in you get what you pay for and later models are better than earlier models as a rule.

IBM Thinkvisions are my preference,

Never had a dead pixel on any of the 3 I have in years and I like matt black surrounds without silly silver stripes, bezels, buttons and glossy glass.. just the nice quality display thanks maam.

A bit pricey new, but you can get them for cheap 2nd hand and Ive never had one fail yet.

After that, Viewsonics would be my 2nd choice, although I have also heard Dell is where most go in the larger (25"+) sizes.

I found a nice HP display with some super-duper LCD tech (I forget the name, SP ? something like that) for my M.A.M.E. Table that gives it a super-wide viewing angle (most LCD's dont work well more than about 45' off center, these ones do).

Checked out some monitors at JB HiFi today; The HP models definitely looked good and the one Dell was good too. All the Samsung models had wide bezels with a clear rim, making them useless for a dual monitor setup. The main problem with all of them is the resolution - they were all 1920 x 1050 or 1080, which is to wide for looking at CAD IMHO. I found a few 1920 x 1200 monitors on-line, might have to buy by brand reputation sight-unseen Confused

I also realised my 5 year old video card won't do the resolution; time for a complete video overhauls it seems!

i've never had an issue with a 1080P display for cad?

The other option is to go "seriously large", angus has my old 37" and aaron has just gone a 40" as far as i'm aware.
everybody freaks out about them for daily use (square eyes etc) but eh, the focal distance is the same, and now your not squinting at tiny details ;->

kogan has some cheap tv's at the moment ;->

(just make sure it'll do 1:1 pixel mapping and you might want a "game" mode where it doesn't try and "enhance" the signal with predictive/interpolative mojo, good for tv not so awesome for command line (i have a 50" plasma for tv, and i notice some artifacts on the command line when i'm mucking with it))

btw JB are bastards.
just saying ;->

LOL, no way I am endorsing JB, they conned me pretty good a few years ago! I guess I am a bit old school about monitor aspect ratios, particularly for a dual monitor set up, doesn't seem like I have much choice though. Comparing my current 22" monitors to current technology, anything beats them on all fronts, so I can't really lose with mid-range 24" monitors.

I run dual 22" IZ3D's... Good monitors, but they have bigger ones out now Smile

But on my everyday computer I have dual Benq's... Never had a dead piexl problem and they are cheap.

Outlook to Windows Live Mail ??
From bad to worse huh ?

Ever consider using a mail client that doesnt try to put shackles on your data ?

Try Thunderbird or one of the many other email clients that dont use MS tactics to make it hard to leave
