Sensored Brushless Motors

Has anyone got any sensored brushless motors or ESCs around I am trying to read the pulses from the Hall effect sensors for a project I am working on. I have grabbed some of the HK sensored elcheapo motors but can't manage to get it apart to look at the sensor board.

I am assuming that it will be powered by +- 5V on red/black and that there will be 3 channels for graycode counter and a temperature sensor. However I would like to be sure before applying power to the motor and hearing a sizzle then noticing the familiar smell of burning sillicon.

So if anyone has any they have pulled apart or and details it would be greatly appreciated.

Steve
