I cant see where a saw would be really a KE weapon its use is to cut not smash,so im ok with sawbots.
High speed Thwackbots are ok for me.
Drills,Flailbots etc im ok with also.
Someone mentioned at our last meet that it would be nice to just build like we did years ago and slowly buildup to the likes of "Scissorhands" over time.
Its been around 8 years to get to that level in featherweights
So i think if all of us dont try to build the "superbot" first up and have some fun messing around with other weapons we can have another 8 years until we have to go to ........dare i say Middlweights????
Ohh just wondering, why do we have to have KE spinners in our lightweight class?
When im competing in a battle i enjoy it for what it is a 'fight'
so if im battling another wedge or pushybot i dont give rats arse if the people watching it are being entertained or not, cause the 2 blokes that are battling are and thats all that concerns me
So if the continuous need to have KE spinners in everyclass is to keep the 6 other builders who are watching entertained then we have problems. _________________ Photos - http://community.webshots.com/album/154092733uokpXC

Hmm, so if the guys having the match are entertained with any type of non-spinner bot, but the spectators get bored, then the answer is to make every match a melee! No bystanders means everyone is having fun

not an absurd idea, how do you call a winner though?
last one running isn't practical. (and takes a long time) _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

What it comes down to is this!
the people judging the battle have to be 100% non bias to the weapon type or if any weapons exist at all and thats the issue.
once again its about the true reality of a fight and what goes into judging a fight, not about getting a chubby if you see a big boom boom bang, thats for the kids who get off on fire crackers.
we spend a bit more time and money on what we do and it deserve a bit more thought and sensible decision making ,than "ohh wasnt that cool bits fell off"
If a builder spends his time on money on building a thwackbot he should be judged and treated the same as someone spending $6000 on a spinner _________________ Photos - http://community.webshots.com/album/154092733uokpXC

Been thinking about the no the no spinner Lightweight situation.
Possibility it might get a new lease of life.
The Sidetracked arcade / rental bots are either working or close to it.
My reasoning is that the closest competition class we have to them is the no spinner lightweights.
Lots of people are going to see / operate them and hopefully we will pick up a few new builders this way.
Just have to come up with a cooler name for the class than No Spinner Lightweight. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

Happy snap of Refbot frame at rolling stage, reason for putting it in this thread is its bread and butter light weight component technique, angle iron frame, 300 watt scooters, bag tolly wheels, 80 tooth sprockets, number 25 chain, bearings at the front of the arms are, ones going to be a hammer the other a lifter.

remember how i said those pocket bike starters look pretty good? had one dumped in my lap this week so heres a couple of pics
its got two brushes inside bearings throughout and a very nicely done spur gear reduction. sprocket is a #25 i think on a splined shaft but ill have to double check that.

about 1500rpm (the gearing is about 6 or 7:1 to drive the crank shaft of the motor) and about 300g heavier then a drill it seems. next time i have it out ill get some accurate specs _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts
