"blue esc" 50A Himark
Think it deserves its own thread instead of hauling everything into the just wondering one . seems to be a bit of interest in them
got mine today, gave it a test. like gary says the deadband is massive it just "jumps" into power and low speed control is pretty non existant.
no reverse delay either.
also does work off 6 cells (i had the bec disasbled however) as noted BUT im dead sure they have thermal limiting. cause i made it cut out after running it really hard on a fan motor. then it came good after it cooled off again. so ill have to test that again i guess!
they also wont turn on if you dont have the stick centered.
there made by himark apparently
just hope the srimech direction corresponds to the 50A side
if/when i blow it up ill hack it apart and take the potting off and see what lies within. but im pretty happy with it considering it was only $45 all up. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

hmm, interesting, if u can give it a shakedown and see how far it can be pushed without blowing up ill be interested in getting a few definitely
Give it a go driving demon around, see if the drills push em too badly on 6 cells _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

They're made for rc boats so that big dead band would make sense. Good for shrimecs but i've heard that the dead band varies between modules so using them for drive esc's sucks hard. _________________ ( •_•)
You should be able to tweak the dead bands back to a normal range by using some exponential rates on that channel. Make the spektrum run high rate movements for the first portion of the stick movement to get the controller to start reaction fast with little stick movement, then set the rates to taper back towards the end. This should smooth the dead band out a bit more _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Just for the record as is mentioned in other thread MiniMower is using one on his weapon motor so his drum is reversible. The drum is friction drive so motor wont see any stalls in normal use. So far no problem and a lot more compact than previous relay reversing set up.
Have been investigating using them for drives, with the DX5 doing the mixing one esc runs forward and one reverse. Combining with the wide dead band not very nice.
We accidentally shorted the esc testing with overdrive, no damage so it apparently has protection.
Dug Skeletor out, have decided to use 2 blue controllers in him to work his claws and overhead weapon movement / sremech.
Try to have him going for next Vic event.

just a point, the potted black part inside the controllers come out of the blue casing easy. i have mine press fitted in a block of plastic and i was pulling the wires pretty gently to get it out and the insides seperated
think i can see the tops of 4 fets. no idea what else is inside aside from that

playing around with mine some more today. definitely feels like a servo switching setup to half throttle then a normal controller. but i dont think its so much a dead band problem because if you hold the stick there for a second or two itll run fairly slowly. so i think it may have a 1 second delay built in
but yeah 6 cells works great. nice and simple. i think this controller will have its place in the robot scene
kinda hoping it breaks now so i can smash the potting off and check out the pcb

I have a few from this vendor. $58.70AU for 2 freight included.
One of mine has a tighter dead band or less delay but I can’t remember who I got it of, they probably are made in a number of places and can be a bit different. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

Deal Xtreme has them as well. $27.90 + free shipping
Looks like the same thing for more money.
Must be better, you get what you pay for. Actually I have one of the cheap ones coming for an experiment, _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

Would it happen to be a srimiec?
Thats what ill be using myn for but i will test it for delay and see if its worth getting two and testing them for drive just for the hell of it. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.
