Well here is a setback:

"17 January 2008

Dear Andrew Kerrison,

Thank you for your interest in the Ideas Festival 2008. I am writing to let you know that the Queensland Government, after careful consideration, has decided to reschedule the event for 2009.

In 2009 Queensland will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of its separation from New South Wales. This is an important milestone for all Queenslanders and plans are underway to present a full year of celebrations across the state. This change of date enables broader engagement for the Ideas Festival, to feature as part as part of these celebrations.

The decision to change to date was made after careful consideration and in consultation with many of the festival’s key stakeholders who agreed it was in the best interest of delivering the best possible festival.

The exact date for the 2009 festival has not yet been set but it will be done so to align with the broader sesquicentenary plans. A new direction, festival team and advisory board will be set to align with the sesquicentenary themes and protocols. This new date will allow the event to develop a new structure through which people will have more interaction with the festival and more input into programming.

The team at the Ideas Festival are excited about the new opportunities of increased involvement and about building the festival. We will be inviting people to be a part of the process and to join us in creating a festival which is a part of our community, delivering meaningful outcomes which impact on all Queenslanders.

I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this date change may have caused and hope you will understand the benefits this means for the future festival. We look forward to working with you towards the 2009 Ideas Festival

For more information please contact one of the festival team direct on (07) 3735 3255, email us at info@ideasfestival.com.au to join out mailing list, or keep on eye on our website (www.ideasfestival.com.au) for updates over the next month.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Peterson (Festival Director) and the Ideas Festival Team"

Public service - can't deal with them, can't vote them out of office! Let's hope that the 2009 festival is better and that " people will have more interaction with the festival and more input into programming" means they will have a robot event.

Well the new plan is much the same as the old plan. We have the plans and quotes for the arena so I'll send them of to Treasury Casino grants people and see what they make of it.
The status of the club is that we are incorporated but we do not have any funds. Still need to get membership fees too by the way.
