balancing cells

Maybe time for a new thread.

in all honesty im not really sure how a balancer works, would be nice to know.. does it just apply small increase in charge or discharge to certain cells to bring them up to the rest of the pack or otherwise?

and how do they connect up so i can wire them into the packs ive got. i heard you just solder them onto the existing battery interconnects but not sure..

could be interesting to make my own balancer discharger (would guess a discharger would be easier to make) for a big 60 cell pack for the bike later on too

they discharge all cells till they meet the lowest one as a rule i believe.
Fancy ones might somehow stop charging at a paticular voltage
