I really appreciate the assistance thanks, if I thought the Sidewinder was a sure thing as far as running the 250-watt scooters reliably it might be worth the effort.

Thing is the jury is still out as far as that goes, after all I tried to run the 250’s on an XL scorpion and it crashed the micro on it too. Sad

Didn’t do any damage, a cold boot and it went again but Maestro is working with an IBC now and I am brining a spare IBC just in case.

So we have 4 bots working, lots of things I could do but nothing I really have to. Smile

So looks like we can cruse on up tomorrow and get some sleep tonight. If we can take up a bit of space on your lounge room floor again Jeff would be really good.

So . . . as quoted here:

Saturday 3/11: Run the normal round for the feathers as we normally would. Same as always.

Sunday 4/11: Run the first NSW ligthweight fights. Run the games we ran last year for the feathers (eg Hungry Hungry Robots, Soccer, Sumo etc). And why not another little beetle competition (with no collapsible beam Smile )

The idea would be to get as many people building a lightweight over the next few months as possible but not at the expense of their featherweight bots.

Yeah, we definitely agreed on lightweights for Saturday to make it better for inter-staters.

The first NSW lightweight competition is over and while we could have done with a few more bots, it was definitely a success. Team Rotwang won, with Mega-Retread coming second. I can't remember the event tree, so here are some photos and general comments:

Splatter

Andrew had drive chain problems all day, but the concept is sound and version two should be an interesting bot to watch

ForkInHell

Jeff built this art bot, not really expecting it to compete. Nobody was more surprised than Jeff when it went 3/4 and came fourth (or was it fifth?).

ForkInHell was eventually knocked out by Mega-Retread - Jeff added some flame-proofing and fire retardant for that match, but the bot still copped a scorching!

Phailbot:

Glen and Angus's lightweight promised to entertain and didn't dissapoint! Laughing

Stay tuned for the video Very Happy. Phailbot went on to put some serious hurt into Maestro, quite a surprise for such a mature bot.

Major Chip Hazzard

Jason had major electrical problems at the start of the day, after swapping to Glen's spare IBC, Chip Hazzard worked more reliably but lacked power due to the drill batteries. Jason has his eye on some nicads and HV Victors, so expect a better result next year.

Maestro

Garry put on his usual excellent performance with a well seasoned lightweight:

Unfortunately, a badly behaved NSW spinner (Phailbot) gave Garry this nasty surprise:

Weasle

Team Rotwang also ran their new lightweight bot, which looks nearly unbeatable:

It uses the same great drive system as Stainless Steel Rat and proved to be a winner - Congrats to Team Rotwang!

Buster

Chris put on a very leeek and pushy six wheel brick:

It featured some very high-tech urethane wheels from the Plannerz and generally did well, except against wedges.

Gamul

Definitely the coolest bot at the event, Jason's walker impressed everyone - wait for the video...

Thanks for getting the videos up so fast. It sounds like everyone was having a great time.

I particularly liked Weasel. That shows what a pusher can do.

Unfortunately I don't have a list of fights to do a results.

Just wanted to congratulate Nick with winning the NSW series with a from behind comeback that will go down in the history books. With winning the day the only result possible to secure finishing 1st, he managed to overcome an early loss and uncharacteristic damage. Well done.

And now hopefully Stealth can be returned from whence it came.

Event Report:

First things first; it seems I omitted a picture of the finest lightweight in existence - Mega Retread:

The video shows it in it's true light, er glory. Sorry guys, I won't be so disrespectful again Smile.

Jolt took a real beating from all the Team Rotwang bots and the locals too, but pulled thru to win. I put it down the the ghetto PC case wedge I bodged up after losing to Ya Mum.

Stay posted for videos over the nnext 2 - 3 days!
