Brett,

"That Thing" is definately a non-starter. I have landed a HUGE contract & will be in the Philippines during the RW2.

Hope everything goes well for the tournement.

Thanks for the confirmaitons/denials. The Table has been updated.

Lot sof interest at the Hobby show today, I met a few uni students who are looking very likely as contenders, and quite a few others who are possibilities to have a go.. I think the friday night qualifiers might be the go.. we'll see how the entries are looking in a few weeks..

Is the qualifiers for new bots or new teams?

good point.. most likely new teams, since one would hope that an experienced team wouldnt have too many silly show-stopper problems...

It would be difficult to do for interstaters though, unless they were planning to be in melbourne on the friday anyway.. I more had it in mind for new local teams if we exceed the 32 bot bracket I had in mind.

Do you have much of an idea of the minimum time one bot would get between battles? Half an hour? An hour? Just need to know for battery charging and stuff.

The *minimum* time will be around 1/2 hr. Looking at the preliminary scheduling, it will be more like 2+ hours between rounds for the first 3/4 of the compeitition, plenty of time for charging and repairs (hopefully).

As it gets closer to the finals, things start to tighten up a bit, but I plan on padding it out with lightweights, novelty bots, grudge matches, and losers-rumbles to guarrantee the minimum spacing.

hmm, I think I might be able to make it Smile

If so I'll have a 6kg bot (Woktronix), and a featherweight of some kind, which will be constructed soon Smile

the wok was $18 I think.
I found some larger ones, but they weren't as strong.

apart from a couple of drills, some dodgy wheels from a set of castors, and a mega cheap radio set everything else was free...

to nsw people --- im going to be flying to robowars and then renting a car to get there, most likely traveling virgin as well. so if we spot any cheap as tickets or accomodation do you want me to wing you a message? jeff f, jeff j and wayde in particular?? i think at the mo there going for about $89 each way. they will probably go down to $40 again soon though. what else... oh yeah im hoping to leave on the friday as getting the bot on the airport and reassembling it when there trully sucks ass.

err what else is there to ask... will we be supplied with work tables this time round? my back is still annihilated from building screwy kneeling down in the corner LOL.
