Marayong 9 - November 27th
Never too early to start planning
Beween now and the next event, we definitely need to add another layer of MDF tothe arena wall and perhaps bolt the front wall to the concrete.
I will be back with Basilisk, mostly the way is was at Marayong 8, plus another bot just for soccer (if that's OK in the rules?) _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

I think the builders who want to go down to Robowars in December had better start bulking up now! You can bet that all the Victorian guys will weigh close to 13.6 Kg and the extra power and armour available in 1.6Kg is substantial.
We have 7 weeks until the next Marayong event - plenty of time to bolt on some armour or add a bigger battery. The time between Marayong 9 and Robowars is about half that. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Well fella's i have asked this question and have recieved much umming and aaring but no definite answers.
So i want a straight answer from either Chris or Jeff and the rest can express opinions please.
Are we beefing up to 13.6 kg limit next event or keeping it at 12 kg until next season and/or after robowars.
I need to know before i design the frame of my robot so i know what interchngable armour etc can i put on and stuff and how thick everything can be. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Well, IMHO, Chris already said in another topic that he was fairly OK with the 13.6 Kg weight. Queensland and Victoria are already there, so its us who are dragging the chain.
I don't see any need for upgrading the arena so its down to personal agendas. The question is: why
shouldn't
we go 13.6Kg for the last event? There are about 7 weeks to the next event, which is plenty of time for modicications. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

good point there Nick,
I am just starting the build for my robot now and 1.6kg ish extra is a great difference in my books because it means i can have different materials or sizes etc for what i needed and if drilling holes are needed etc.
Chris stated that he doesnt mind and i did notice that. Glen says leave it until after. I am sure u wouldnt mind since basilisk was 13 kg last event anyway's. Jeff f. would use it for steel armour probably, jake could use it for heaviwer weopn disc or something, jeff more armour on el b.
I am mainly waiting top hear from Jeff Johnson as its his arena and his house etc.
I personally think 13.6 kg is good to start now as what difference is one more event. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

I suppose Glen has bothe hte trophy and spare weight, so he doesn't feel the pressure like some of us do
I was definitely heading towards 13.6 Kg for the Melbourne Robowar event and after the hole I put in the back of El Bravo, Jeff would probably be keen to use some extra armour... _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Thats great. All i need then is the final word from the man himself Jeff J then i will stick with 13.6 kg. This will be such a great help as everything minus frame so far weighed about 10.9 so with some minor drilling and chopping and shrinking i can get it all in 13.6 kg plus have all teh cool looks and styles i want. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Yes, yes, the extra weight is fine and all with me!
Though it`s not compulsory and with El b at 10.5kg anyway, I prefer to keep the weight down in favour of speed. A little more armour is planed but I will probably still be under 12kg!
